ST. CHRISTOPHER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH (Continued from Page U from 7 to 11:00 p.m. in the school social room. Members of the Holy Name Society and their sons will receive corporate Holy Communion at the 8 o’clock Mass Sunday, November 10th. A breakfast in the school social room will follow the Mass. Coach Joe Dezelan of Cathedral High School will be the speaker. Members are asked to call Ken Carter (AX. 1-6687) or Al Armin (AX. 1-1453), if not contacted, for reservations by tomorrow evening. Open House at St. Christopher school will be Sunday afternoon, November 10th, from 2 to 5 o’clock. All parents are invited to come, meet the teachers, and talk over their child’s progress in the school. Refreshments will be served downstairs in the school social room by the room mothers. The annual Pantry Shower is scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, November 25th, 26th, and 27th. St. Christopher had one winner at the city-wide Class A Baking Linda Klein, in the third grade, won second place in Class A Baking with pumpkin cookies. St. Meinard Seminary will present “The Tempest” by William Shakespeare Sunday, November 10th, and again on Sunday, November 17th. Curtain time for the performances is 2:30 p.m. On Monday morning at 11:15 a High Mass was sung for Mary Ann Bische at the request of the Walter Bische family. Tuesday morning the High Mass was for the living and deceased members of the parish. On Wednesday the fourteenth day Mass was for Lawrence Kuczenski, as requested by his window and daughters. This morning the Mass remembered Anna Johanna Mullenholz. The Ed Fierek family requested the Mass. The family of Sadie Mann have requested the Mass on Friday morning be said for her. On Saturday morning at eight o’clock, a Mass of Thanksgiving will be said according to the intention of Laverne Beberdick.

Symphony Seminar

Speedway students participating in a speech festival at Logansport last Saturday were awarded eight placement ribbons and the first place school trophy. A total of 350 students from 20 high schools participated in the festival. The Electric Steel Castings Company of Speedway , recently gave the junior high and high school libraries each a check for SIOO. Electric Steel has made annual gifts to the library for many years. These gifts are appreciated by students and staff. The football season ended last week with the reserve team defeating Avon 16-0 and the varsity winning from Franklin Central 26-0. The varsity Sparkplugs completed the season with a 7-2 record. They won the Mid-State Conference Championship and were uqdefeated in four Marion County games.
