Arlo Harris It has been called to my attention that some voters think that they can only vote for the candidate in their own ward. This is incorrect. Each voter can vote for (5) Speedway Town Trustees, one for each ward and one ClerkTreasurer. I would greatly appreciate your support. Kenneth Smith (Continued from Page 1) each of the five wards. There is no straight ticket as such. You simply vote for the candidates you think can best serve Speedway. During the past four years I have tried to represent the people of Speedway to the best of my ability. I have attended meetings with the state highway commission, flood control boards, state board of health and various other governmental groups. I helped sponsor legislation directly affecting Speedway and appeared before committees of both houses of our state legislature. I have also made appearances before several groups, such as PTA, Lions Club and the Methodist Church where I have given a talk titled “Speedway—Our Town.” I have also appeared as a panel member defending and proving the merit of the Civil Town form of government. In addition I have helped fight for traffic signals, water rights, and a pension for all full time employees of the town. I like this town I live in, and as a member of the present board, I have sincerely and seriously considered every issue brought before the board and voted accordingly, but every decision must be made for someone or something and against someone or something, therefore it is obvious that you can’t always satisfy everyone. Since the board consists of five members, no one individual can truthfully says, “I promise to cut taxes” or “I promise to reduce

sewerage rates.” All I can truthfully promise is to continue to work for the best interests of the town of Speedway to the best of my ability. There are certain projects vital to Speedway and for these I sincerely promise to continue to work. They are as follows: 1. A hospital in the Speedway area. 2. Flood control on Eagle Creek. 3. A water treatment plant. 4. Overall survey and improvement of sewers. 5. Diversion of Dry Run Creek and Meyers Ditch and last but not least, the continued prosperity of Speedway as a town and not as a part of any other city. I am a member of the Speedway Christian Church, North Park Masonic Lodge, Raper Commandery, York Rite (Knights Templar), Speedway Lions Club, Indiana Personnel Assoc., Past Pres, of Indianapolis Personnel Assoc., American Society of Management, American Society of Quality Control and the Westwood Country Club. This is my record and these are my promises. Therefore I believe I am experienced and qualified to serve again as a member of the Town Board and I would greatly appreciate your vote in the coming election. Thank You. Kenneth H. Smith ST.
