Judges for the Hobby Show at St. Christopher this Saturday and Sunday will be Mesdames Glenn Shoptaugh and Robert Young, Red Cross Craft instructors and Mary Ellen Benedetto, Home Economic and Spanish instructor at Chartrand High School. The judging will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday. The exhibits may be seen after Masses Sunday. Members of the Holy Name Society and their wives will receive corporate Holy Communion at the 8 o’clock Mass Sunday morning. Following the Mass an appetizing breakfast will be served in the school social room. A film on Telestar from the Telephone Company is planned for an interesting program. The telephone committee of the Society are endeavoring this week to reach all members and verify the reservations. If for any reason a member isn’t contacted,

Tonight, Peter Nero, the popular young pianist will return to Marian College for a one evening performance at 8:30 p.m. No seats are reserved. Admission three dollars. The Daughters of Isabella are sponsoring afternoon and evening card parties Friday, October 11th, beginning at 1:30 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. at the Catholic Community Center. Guardian Angel Guild Annual Open House will be held on Sunday, October 20th, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Child Center. This is sponsored by Parents’ Group. A cordial invitation is extended to all to come and see what is being done at the Center. Frank Burton, a 7th grader, won the first prize in the cake division, and the grand champion prize with his delicious chocolate cake in the first annual St. Christopher Baking Contest for the 7th, Bth, and high school boys and girls last week-end. Larry Harley, a Sophomore (10th grade) at Speedway High School won first prize in the cookie division. His entry was Brownie cup cakes. In the yeast bread and rolls division, Anne Zishka, a Junior at St. Mary’s Academy, won first prize with her Bohemian kolaches. Orange nut bread made by Debbie Thrash, an Bth grader, won first prize in the quick bread division. Another Bth grader, Joe Yanoska, won first prize in the pie division with his chocolate-pecan pie. There were many second, third and fourth ribbons in all divisions. At 8 o’clock Monday morning on the Feast of the Holy Rosary the High Mass was sung for Cecilia Carey at the request of Eunice Robison. An Anniversary Mass was offered on Tuesday morning for Barth Riedy at the request of Helen Riedy. The Altar Society requested the Mass on Wednesday morning be sung for Sadie Mann. Mrs. Mann was the first president of the Society. This morning the Mass remembered Norma Grannan. Marcel and Dorothy Unnewehr requested the Mass. The Mass tomorrow morning will be for the living and deceased members of St. Christopher Parish. On Saturday morning the Mass will be for Frank Kreffel at the request of his widow, Ruth Kreffel. St. Gerard Discussion Group met Tuesday evening at eight o’clock with Shirley Bische. Father Richart has been in St. Vincent hospital since Saturday morning with a seemingly ruptured or displaced disc. He is in Room 428. Prayers are asked for his speedy recovery.
