FIRE PREVENTION WEEK Firemen from all over the State of Indiana will meet on Saturday and Sunday at the Marion County 4-H Fairgrounds to stage a demonstration as an opening for National Fire Prevention week. The affair will be in the form of a seminar for firemen as well as open to the public who have been invited to learn how and why firemen use particular methods to put out blazes. The program is being sponsored by the firemen in Central Indiana from Marion and the surrounding countries. Heading the committee in charge is Elbert Elders, president of the Marion County Volunteer firemen’s association. All firemen have been invited to participate in the two day program with the second day being a repeat performance of the first so that half of the firemen from the various departments can attend one day and the other half the next. For the benefit of the public, each operation will be explained lover a public address system. Plans also include a radio hookup which will connect each fire department to the fairgrounds so that if any emergency arises “from the home district,” the men can be notified within a few minutes. There will also be displays of fire equipment, fire fighting materials and extinguishing methods along with protective clothing for firemen. Lunch will be served on the grounds by ladies of the Marion County Firemen’s auxiliary.
