The main estate has on the grounds a two-family residence, a single-family residence, a greenhouse, water tower in the same Mediterranean architectural style as the mansion, and a large outdoor swimming pool. street parade led by the Brownsburg High Band and featuring the Shrine Horse Patrol, the Clermont Teen Queen and her court and many colorful and unusual floats and outfits. There are 13 events in the Sunday show consisting of a mixture of English, Western and action events including calf roping and bulldogging. Clermont’s famous good food will be available at the concession stand with Lion Elmer Shepherd and Lion Ron Seals as co-chair-men. Paul Sawyers is general chairman for the show and Jean Simmonds is program chairman, every member of the Clermont Lions Club serves on one of the many committees it takes to stage this big show. Many of the townspeople also assist in the affair. Plenty of free parking space is available in the 18 acre Clermont Lions Community Park where the show is held. Admission price is SI.OO for one day or $1.50 for 2 days includes bleacher seats. Reserved parking around the arena is available.

Bobby Marshman, the visiting celebrity, crowned the queen and then proceeded to start the pace lap in the red Chevrolet II convertible donated by Bud Gates Chevy Town. The race lasted one hour and seventeen minutes. First to receive the checkered flag was David Harriman’s team, sponsored by the American Fletcher National Bank. Second place was decided by tenths of a second, one of the closest finishes in recent years. Second place went to John McDaniels team, sponsored by Neighbor Finance Co. Third place went to David Bennett’s team, sponsored by Holiday Inn Motel. Each of these boys received new bicycles and trophies donated by the bicycle Institute of America in conjunction with their bicycle safety program. Other teams finished the race in the following order; Fourth: Steve Alsmeyer, sponsored by Kinder Texaco.

Near the end of the Race, Jeffery Cohen took a nasty spill, and it was necessary to take advantage of the courtesy ambulance of Farley Funeral Home, to take Jeffery to the doctor and then to Methodist Hospital. it was found necessary to set Jeff’s right arm because of a green stick fracture. After the trip to surgery, Jeff’s appetite had returned and it was a welcome sight to see him at the Victory Picnic, prepared by the Speedway Jaycee Jaynes. Our thanks go out to West Baking Co., Tastee Baking Co., Marhoeffer Packing Co., Belmont Butchers, Safeway Quality Foods, Artie’s Potato Chips, and Paper Arts Co., for their part in making the picnic possible. After the picnic, each boy received some prizes for participating in this year’s race. Many of the prizes were donated by the following companys; A-l Bike Store, East Side Bike Store, Emroe Sporting Goods Mo., Matthew’s Bicycle Mart, U. S. Rubber, Freddie’s Bicycle Shop, Supreme Bicycle Store, Dues Indiana, Inc., Westside Bicycle Mart, Guarantee Auto Stores and Diamond Chain Co. A very special thanks goes to the Speedway Shopping Center for a safe location off the street to hold this race.
