Also to acquaint them with other kids and generally to provide recreation and a good time. Other activities this summer include tournaments in croquet, 1 checkers, chess, carrom, horseshoes and many others. Dates will be announced later. Some of the activities offered at the park during the supervision are: tennis, ' basketball, baseball and softball, badminton, croquet, horseshoes, carrow, chess, checkers and many games for all ages. amount of vandalism this year. The parks are for your recreation and enjoyment so let’s take better care of the equipment. If you see anyone destroying park equipment, please call it to the attention of the park supervisor. All boys who will be in the seventh, eighth or ninth grade next year and reside in Speedway, are invited to take part in our Basketball program for Junior High boys. This program is scheduled to take place at the Meadowood courts Monday through Friday from 8:15 to 10:00 a.m. Boys will be instructed on the fundamentals of the game such as shooting, dribbing, passing and team play. This program will start Tuesday, June 11. Our Horseshoe League is scheduled to start pending completion cf the pits. Look for “Horseshoe” news in this paper.

ST. CHRISTOPHER ’S CATHOLIC CHURCH (Continued from Page 1) June 3d, beginning at 10 o’clock. All grades, except the Bth, will picnic in the Speedway park. At the regular monthly Altar Society meeting Wednesday night, June sth, at 8 o’clock, election of 1963-1964 officers will be held. On Thursday morning, June 6th, the Bth grade graduation class will receive corporate Holy Communion at the 8 o’clock Mass. Following the Mass, they will enjoy their graduation breakfast in the school social room. Then at 7:30 p.m. will be the graduating exercises. An Anniversary High Mass was sung at 8 o’clock on Monday morning for John Craig at the request of the family. On Tuesday morning, the High Mass was for the intention of Carole Knapp. Grace Haney and daughters requested the Mass Wednesday morning be said for John Haney. Both Masses on Thursday morning, Memorial Day, will be Low Masses offered for the safety of the personnel at the race track and the people at the Race. On Friday, the 8 o’clock High Mass will be for the living and deceased members of St. Christopher. Agnes Reddington will be remembered in the Mass Saturday morning at the request of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Michaelis. New 1963-1964 officers for the Holy Name Society elected Sunday are A 1 Armin, president; Morris Theising, vice-president; Howard Peters, secretary; and, Charles Stevens, Jr., treasurer. Mrs. William Hesselgrave of W. 13th Street, who underwent surgery recently at St. Vincent hospital, is home and is doing fine. Everyone in the parish is very proud of our Cadet Track team who won 1963 City Track and Field Championship. Mike Moran established a new record of 6.2 seconds in the Class “A” 50 yard dash. Tony Berkopes tied the record of 25.7 seconds in the Class “A” 220 yard dash. Mike Moran, David Bender, Jim Boswell, and Tony Berkopes established a new record of 48.3 seconds in the Class “A” 400 yard relay. Guy Cummins, John Turk, Mike Esamann and Mark Reinie established a new record of 26.9 seconds in Class “C” 200 yard relay. Mike Myers scored 7’6%” on pole vault, Bill Brothers 28%” on shot put, and Mike Esamann 193’9” on baseball throw. St. Christopher scored 140% over-all as against Holy Angels, second, of 131. Coaches Glenn Forrest, Herb White, and Ray Esamann are to be congratulated, as well as the boys.
