National Safety Poster Winners Ben Davis High School art students won Ist and 2nd place honors in the National Safety Poster Contest sponsored by the Amerfean Automobile Association in Washington, D. C. Tom Randall, 4910 Beecher, a Ben Davis sophomore, won Ist place reproduction in competition with 16,000 posters. His poster “Watch For Turning Cars” was one of the top 10 selected for reproduction out of all entries submitted by grades 1 through 12 from the entire U. S. A. and Canada. Another winner is Claudia Riddle, 3820 Rockville Ave., a Ben Davis junior, who won 2nd place honors in the slogan catagory “Walk on left Facing raffic.” In addition to the two money winners, 13 Ben Davis art students won Commendation, they are: Deborah Adrian, Sarah Brown, Kathy Schell, Mary Margaret Magnabosco, Joe Miller, Douglas Lines, Sharon McDonald, Douglas Messick, Sharon Rosner, David Sinclair, John Moore, James Lineback and Terry Delong. Merit Citations were won by five other Ben Davis students, they are: Janice Medcalf, Larry Tackett, Tom Smith, Glenda Staggs and David Russell. Mrs. Elva Strouse, 4325 Black Oak Drive, their art teacher, supervised the poster making project.
