Next Civic Production The eighth and final production of the Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre for the current season will open Friday, May 17. “Critic’s Choice,” the three act comedy by Ira Levin, will complete the 48th season of continuous performances for Civic, entitling the near north side playhouse to the caption of “America’s Oldest Community Theater.” “Critic’s Choice,” a modern sophisticated comedy, that was produced on Broadway in 1960, and later made into a movie, will be presented for three weekends. Seat reservations may be obtained by calling the box office starting Monday, May 13.

Father Victor Wright was appointed pastor of new St. Gabriel parish to the northwest of us last week, effective as of May 29th. St. Gabriel will take in about one-third of St. Christopher parishioners, as well as parishioners from St. Michael’s and St. Monica. Father Carl A. Shumaker, one of the seven newly ordained priests, will be assistant pastor. A card party, benefit for the Holy Cross Brothers, will be held Saturday afternoon, May 18th, in Wm. H. Block auditorium.
