SCHOOL NEWS (Continued from page 1) Language Honor Program to spend two months in Germany this summer to further their study of the German language. Since only twenty-four pupils were selected in the entire state, Speedway received one-fourth of the invitations. The six Speedway students who will participate are Martha Campbell, Karen Douglas, Nick Green, Sue Johnson, Elizabeth Najar, and Jim Perin. Summer educational activities this summer will include reading improvement, library, 4H, driver training, science projects, conversational language in German and Russian, and music. All activities except music will run from June 17 through July 31. Music will be from July 13 through August 28. The driver training classes are already filled. Pupils will be contacted before school is out concerning the other programs.
In varsity baseball last week Speedway defeated Greenwood 12 to 2 on Tuesday and Washington 4 to 3 on Friday. The Speedway golf team placed fourth in the Marion County meet. The freshman track team placed sixth in the Marion County Freshman Track Meet. The honor roll for the sth sixweeks grading period of this year for grades 10, 11, and 12 is listed below. Honor roll for other grades will be published in next week’s issue of the Flyer.
