SPEEDWAY METHODIST CIIURC'U (Continued from Page 1) April 28. The Crusader Choir directed by Mrs. John F. Moe, will sing at the 9:00 o’clock service. At the 10:45 o’clock service the Chancel Choir will sing the Anthem, “A Blessing” by Shaw. A double trio composed of Sue Highland, Ruby Hartley, Roberta Rarick, Jeanne Bain, Martha Murray, and Jalene Howse will sing, “Bow Down Thine Ear” by Glarum. Mrs. Hecht’s organ music in both services will include “Prelude in B by Bach and “Rigaudon” by Campra. The Lebanon District Spring Conference will be held on Sunday, April 28, at the Speedway Methodist Church. The afternoon session begins at 2:30; the evening session begins at 7:30 p.m. Members and friends of the church are welcome to attend and are especially invited to attend the evening session. At the evening session, members of the Speedway Methodist Church will present a pictorial service entitled” A Portrait Etched In Flame” commemorating the 225th anniversary of John Wesley’s heart-warming experience at Aldersgate. Members of our Chancel Choir under the direction of Mrs. Helen Hecht will provide background music. Sr. Hi MYF will give a party for Retarded Teen Agers on Sunday, April 28, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., in Fellowship Hall. Jr. Hi MYF will meet on Sunday, April 28, at 6:00 p.m., at the chyrch with Mr. Donald M. Moore in charge of the program. All choirs will rehearse at their regular scheduled times. The Woman’s Society of Christian Service will meet on Wednesday, May 1, at 6:30 p.m., for a pitch-in dinner. This meeting will be honoring the Past Presidents and the New Members. Commission on Stewardship and Finance will meet on Thursday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Last Sunday it was our joy to receive into our fellowship: Mr. and Mrs. Carroll B. Homemade Cooky Mix 6 cups sifted all-purpose flour 2 cups sugar 2 teaspoons salt 2 teaspoons soda 2 cups shortening, soft 4 cups oats, uncooked Sift together three times flour, sugar, salt and soda into large bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in oats. Store mix in covered container at room temperature. Makes 14 cups. HONEY SPICE COOKIES To 3% cups Homemade Cooky Mix, add % teaspoon cinnamon, Vi teaspoon mace, % cup honey and 2 eggs; mix well. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cooky sheets. Bake in preheated moderate oven (375 °F.) 8 to 10 minutes. Frost with confectioners* sugar frosting; sprinkle with toasted slivered almonds. Makes 3% dozen cookies. PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES To 3% cups Homemade Cooky Mix, add 1 egg, % cup peanut butter and % cup milk: mix well, shape into 1-inch balls. Place on greased cooky sheets; flatten with fork. Bake in preheated moderate oven (375°F.) 10 to 12 minutes. Immediately place small square of milk chocolate bar on each. Makes 4 dozen cookies. COCONUT-ORANGE SQUARES To 3% cups Homemade Cooky Mix, add 1 egg, % cup orange juice and 1 cup flaked or shredded coconut; mix well. Spread

MARIAN PRESENTS "MUSIC MAN" Nearly one-eighth of the enrollment of Marian College will take the stage next months for the school’s last major entertainment production of the school year. A cast of more than 80 children and students will present “The Music Man,” Meredith Willson's hugely successful stage and screen musical, in two performances. “Music Man” will be given at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 17, and Sunday, May 19, in Marian auditorium.
