MORTGAGE EXEMPTIONS FILING PERIOD When: March Ist through May 6 th, 1963. Applies: Real Estate Taxes Only. The maximum limit of the exemption is $1,000.00, or, % the assessed value of the property, whichever is the least amount. Eligibility: Resident of the State of Indiana. Owner of the property as of March 1, 1963. Data Needed: Book and page number on which mortgage is recorded. Exact amount owed on mortgage as of March 1, 1963. Legal description of property, as shown on tax receipt. Township in which property is located. Where: Organization holding the mortgage (Bank, Insurance Company, Mortgage or Finance Company). Real Estate Broker. Marion County Auditor. Considerable misunderstanding has arisen regarding the filing of mortgage exemptions in that many taxpayers do not realize that it is their responsibility to see that the application is filed. Many firms throughout Marion County provides a mortgage exemption filing service, but they must have the completed applications before they can perform this service. The receipt which the taxpayer receives should be retained in his possession.
