Fulton Junior High P.T.A. Hubert H. Hawkins, director of the Indiana Historical Bureau, is to talk on “Fun and Frolic on the Frontier” at a meeting of the Fulton Junior High School Par-ent-Teacher Association, Monday, Jan. 7, 7:30 p.m. Hawkins, who also is executive secretary of the Indiana Historical Society, will explain that life of the Hoosier settlers was not all a bitter battle against Indians and the elements. He will talk on the social life of the frontier, including such events as log-rollings, turkey pulls, and shivarees. Hawkins contends that the teaching of history often leaves out the “fun and frolic” part of human living and fails to give the present generation a clear idea of how the past generations lived. Fulton school is located at West 10th St. and Girls’ School road.
