The Air Force Reserve 434th Troop Carrier Wing of Bakalar AFB, Columbus, Indiana, was activated on Oct. 28th by the United States Air Force and assigned to the Tactical Air Command. The 434th TCW, according to Colonel John W. Hoff, Commander, will remain at Bakalar AFB for the present time. Aircraft and personnel of the wing will support Tactical Air Command operations. Details concerning the activation or future plans of the unit are not available at this time, according to Colonel Hoff.
