Indianapolis LaLeche league As of this month, the Indianapolis groups of Nursing Mother’s Circles of the Maternity Family League (including the Northwest group) becomes the Indianapolis LaLeche League. The LaLeche (Spanish word for milk) League is a national organization, with headquarters in Franklin Park, Illinois, for the research and assistance with breast feeding. Through a series of monthly meetings and literature, the group seeks to give personal help to nursing mothers and those who might be interested. It is felt that, by becoming a part of a national organization, there will be better acceptance by more doctors than at present, and also there will be more of the latest findings and material available. The group will, however, continue a close relationship with the Maternity Family League (a non-profit organization sponsoring Childbirth Education classes here.) A ‘Tor Father’s Only” meeting for husbands of those attending LLL will be given every 6 months and will be conducted by a doctor. These meetings will, however,

On Saturday, September 22nd, the men of St. Andrew’s will host the Constituting Convention of Lutheran Church Men of the new Indiana-Kentucky Synod of the Lutheran Church in America. Registration will be from 9-10 aan. with the Communion Service beginning at 10:00 aan. The morning business session will be followed by lunch at 12:30. Afternoon session will convene at 2:00 pan. and the banquet will be at 5:30 pan. Sunday morning worship services and Sunday Church School at 9:00 and 11:00 aan. with the Orientation Class for Sunday Church School teachers meeting at 9:50 aan. Junior Choir members (4th, sth, and 6th graders) will meet at 6:00 pan. Sunday evening in the Primary Department under the direction of Mrs. William Brown. Confirmation Classes will meet at 6:00 pan. in the Jr. Department. Mr. John Farley will again be teaching the first year class and Pastor Bigelow will teach the second year class. The Intermediate Luther League will meet at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening in Fellowship Hall. Leadership Classes will meet Monday evening at 7:30 pan. in the Jr. Department. Speedway A. A. Group will hold their regular weekly meeting on Tuesday at 8:30 pan. in Fellowship Hall. Sahara Grotto Norse Show The 13th Annual Sahara Grotto Horse Patrol Horse Show will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22nd and 23rd at Wanamaker, Indiana. The Western Style Horse Show will officially dedicate the beautiful new grounds recently acquired by the Grotto Horse Patrol. It is located in Franklin Township at 7200 East Thompson Road just East of Five Points Road. The Saturday program will start at 7:30 p.m. and will feature the Barrel Race, Three-Legged Race, Flag Race and the exciting Musical Chairs event. The Sunday card will start at 9:30 a.m. and continue all day featuring over 25 sponsored class and race events. Delicious food and refreshments will be provided on the grounds. The general admission is SI.OO per day or $1.50 for a two day ticket. Children 12 years and under will be admitted free.

Air Force Recruiting Detachment "500" USAF Recruiting Detachment 506, responsible for Air Force Recruiting activities in Indiana, eastern Illinois and Southern Michigan will be renamed Detachment “500” on October 1, 1962. The renaming of the Detachment is in honor of the Famous “500” mile race held annually in the Hoosier Capital. To celebrate the occasion a group of young Hoosiers known as the “500 Flight” will be sworn into the Air Force in a ceremony on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis. Following the enlistment ceremony a luncheon will be held for Hoosier and Recruiting Service dignataries at the “500 Club” at 112 E. Vermont Street, Indianapolis. It is expected that most cities and towns throughout Indiana will be represented in the Group enlisting. The flight will remain together as a group all through Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
