Football Season Ticket Sales Adult sales for football season tickets will be held on Tuesday night, September 11, 1962, from 7:00 until 8:00 in the high school office. The season book will sell for $2.50 for the four home games. Student football season tickets will be on sale after school on Thursday and Friday, September 6 and 7, 1962. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Calvin E. Ewing, Sr., 1712 N. Whitcomb St. and Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Pinkerton, 308 E. Tulane Road, Columbus, Ohio. Miss Ewing attended Hanover College. Her sorority is Kappa Alpha Theta. Mr. Pinkerton is a graduate of Hanover College and a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Krannert Y.M.C.A. Festival Of Fun Square dancing will be one of the feature attractions at the colorful Fall Carnival of Fun Friday and Saturday at Krannert Memorial YMCA, 605 South High School Road. Dancers will promenade to the calls of Gene Haley from 8 until 11 p.m. Saturday. Square dancing during the coming season will be a regular part of the Y program at Krannert, with square dancing lessons scheduled to start Sept. 17 for teen-agers and adults. All interested prospective square dancers, whether Y members or not, can contact the Y office at CH. 1-9313 for detailed information on the lessons, which will be held from 7:30 until 9:30 pan. weekly for eight weeks. One of the highlights of the Carnival will be the raffling of a SIOO membership at 9 p.m. Saturday. Lining the midway at the Carnival will be a variety of booths offering such games of chance as a “dunking” machine, ring toss and baseball throwing. In addition, the midway also will sport a putt-putt golf game and various handicraft booths.
Youthful athletes will be performing both days, demonstrating their skills in trampoline work, tumbling and swimming. Women of the WYFS (Women in Y Fellowship and Service) in Dutch costumes will be selling hyacinth, jonquil and tulip bulbs shipped directly from Holland for the Carnival. WYFS also will be selling fudge and operating a fish pond. Chili and tuna suppers will be served on both days from 5 until 10 pm. in a large food booth erected on the grounds. Other activities scheduled during the two-day festival include a teen dance Friday from 7 until 10 p.m. and an adult ballroom dance Saturday from 8 until 11 pm. SENIOR C.YT. METHODIST MEN'S CLUB TO HEAR DR. JAMES M. JAY On Monday evening, September 17, 1962, at 6:30 p.m., the Speedway Methodist Men’s Club will have their first dinner meeting of the 1962-63 year. Following the dinner, Dr. James M. Jay, one of the doctors who recently returned from a three months voluntary tour of the Congo sponsored by the Methodist Church, will give a short talk and show movies on life in the Congo. Dr. Jay calls his program, “CONGO, 1962.” All men and boys of the community are invited to attend this' dinner whether they are members of the Speedway Methodist Church or not. This program will be very interesting, as well as educational, and it is a great privilege for the club to have Dr. Jay pay a visit to Speedway. Tickets for the dinner are $1.25 and all reservations must be in by Thursday evening, September 13, 1962. Tickets can be secured from any of the officers, or by calling Tom Long at AX. 1-4029 or Roy Vehling at CH. 4-4560.
National Bicycle Race This next Sunday will be the 3rd Annual running of the “Tour of Speedway” national bicycle race. The race will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Town Hall. It will be held on a four mile course and 25 laps will be made around it. Some of the entries are: Jim Rossi, National Track Champion; George Van Meter, member of the 1959 Pan Am. Team; Tom Veitenhous; Paul Vashak and Bill Freund, 1960 Olympian. Some local riders competing will be Dave Blase, North American Road Champion; Dave Mercer, Indiana State Track Champion; Olaf Moetus, Junior State Track Champion; Kick Kelly, Bill and Jerry Porter and Jim Berry and John Watson. All those interested in riding the kids races, which will be about % mile in length, should report to the starting line at the town hall no later than 12:00 p.m. and sign in. A parent or guardian will be necessary to help in signing up. Anyone with additional questions should call CH. 4-1186 or CH. 1-5815.

After-Game Open House Doors open at 9:00 p.m. at Speedway Christian Church on September 7th. There will be a pitch-in luncheon and “White Elephant” Bingo in the afternoon. The telephone committee will contact each member on type of food to bring and transportation. TRI KAPPA NEWS Members of Epsilon Eta Chapter enjoyed a picnic dinner at the home of Mrs. John Moran on Tuesday evening, Aug. 28. After a social hour the business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. William Bunting. Mrs. Brad Steele reported on the progress of Bridge-A-Rama. The deadline for entering is September 15 and play begins October 1. The theme of the Candle Bazaar this year will be “Candles of other Countries.” It will be held two days, Oct. 9 and 10 at the home of Mrs. William Faust, 5947 W. 15th St. Watch for further details.
PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Ross Morphew of 5029 West 14th, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Faudree and family, were recent visitors at Florida’s Silver Springs. They began their trip August 18th and plan to return home September 2nd, after touring places of interest in Florida.
Mr. Raymond A. Dault, Manager of the Union Building at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis was the recipient of a Double Key Award at the 1962 International Convention of the Food Service Executives Association. Mr. Max Jaeger, International President, presented this Double Key Award to Mr. Dault at the recent convention in New Orleans. This was in recognition of Mr. Dault’s work on the membership program for the Indianapolis Branch of the Food Service Executives Association. The attendance at the 1962 convention was 798 persons. Delegates were from the United States, Canada, Mexico and South America. Dault is a member of the Speedway Lions Club.
