professional musical group’s Fall production, “Carousel.” This beloved and colorful Rodgers and Kammerstein Broadway musical will open the Footlite season. Mr. Swan has set auditions for Saturday afternoon, August 18 between 4:00 and 7:00 pan., and also for Sunday, August 19, from 2:00 to 6:00 pan. These tryouts will be held at the Footlite Headquarters, 4206 N. College Avenue (Rear). The cast requires eight major acting and singing roles, numerous supporting parts, several children over 10 years of age, and relatively large singing and dancing ensembles. An accompanist will be available for those wishing to audition. Those interested in helping with costumes, sets, or other technical and business phases of the production are invited also to the tryouts.

Commission on Christian Social Concerns will meet tonight at the Church in Room 118. “The Man Who Almost Slipped” is the sermon theme on which Rev. Howard E. Wright will speak at both services of worship on Sunday morning, August 12. Mrs. George M. Bain will sing the Offertory Solo at both services. An Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social will be held on Sunday, August 12, beginning at 6:00 p.m., at the Church. Come any time between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. for home-made ice cream and cake (all free). A Hymn Sing and Vesper Service from 7:00-7:30 p.m. will conclude the evening activities. Child care will be provided. Sponsored by the Fellowship Committee of the Church, everybody is invited. Official Board will meet on Monday, August 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the church. Pledge Counseling Committee will meet on Tuesday, August 14, at 7:30 pan., at the church. Membership Preparation Class to be received on Sunday, August 26, will meet on Wednesday, August 15, at 7:30 p.m., at the church. The 12th Annual Institute of Methodist Men will be held Friday evening, August 31 thru Sunday noon, September 2, at DePauw University, Greencastle.
