KEEP YOUR HAIR ON! Heavens, a brush full of hair! What’s happening to the crowning glory? Nothing, probably. Most hair loss is temporary. Hair is normally shed every day. At times you find yourself shedding more than usual. Everybody has these heavy molting periods. An illness accompanied by high fever can cause temporary loss of hair. So can pregnancy. None of this is anything to worry about. The lost hairs are always replaced. Some hair loss is permanent. Heredity plays a large part here. A man is likely to inherit thinning hair from his father and grandfather; a woman from her mother and grandmother. Nothing to be done in this case except resign yourself to a thinner thatch. The living part of the hair is at the bottom of the hair shaft in the scalp, so the best way to keep your hair on is by taking care of your scalp. Good general health is important here —the right food, exercise, enough rest and sleep. Brushing stimulates the part of the hair beneath the scalp by pulling gently on it. Brush your hair every day. Keep your scalp clean with a weekly
