twelve impressive scenes on a huge double stage in the Coliseum arena, and in the arena itself. The lower stage measures 70 feet in width and 40 feet in depth. The upper stage has an appropriately designed proscenium arch with a curtain 40 feet wide and 16 feet high. This upper stage forms the setting for certain special scenes, including the Last Supper, the court of Pontius Pilate, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection. I eant to make the presentation possible. j The leading role of Jesus of 'Nazareth will again be portrayed [by John Peter Jefferson, 1125 N. Cecil Ave. Mr. Jefferson has taken this role each year that the Pageant has been presented. Other principals in the cast include Curtis Ayres as Peter, Ronald Ahlbrand as John, William O’Brien as Judas, and Leslie Brandt, Sr. as Pontius Pilate. Mary Magdalene will be played by Mrs. Gilbert Mascher, and Mary, the Mother of Jesus, by Mrs. Edward Rothkopf. A choir of nearly 100 children and adult voices will sing under the direction of Fred W. Koehm. Congressman Donald C. Bruce will be the narrator. The Rev. Russel W. Harnack, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, will deliver the Invocation and Scripture Lesson.
Musical background for all of the scenes will be provided by organist Helen Hecht, prominent Indianapolis organist, whose vast experience as a church musician, including several years as organist for the Easter Pageant, will add much to the beauty of this dramatic presentation which continues to grow in popularity and is acclaimed by many as one of the finest presentations of its kind in the country. A special invitation is again extended to those persons who had customarily worshipped at the Monument Circle Easter Sunrise Service, since this service has been discontinued. Ample free parking is available at the Coliseum, and the weather will create no problem as the entire service takes place indoors. The Pageant has been sponsored each year since 1952, with the exception of 1959 when the Coliseum was not available, by the Federation of Lutheran Churches-Missouri Synod of Greater Indianapolis as a public service presentation to exalt the Risen Redeemer, whose Resurrection from the dead is man’s assurance of forgiveness of sins and everlasting life. Admission is free. 8.0.0. K MEETING The 8.0.0. K. division of H.S.L.A. will hold its spring conference at the Indiana University
