it tmb the n inttcATE * “t»KI£SS” CH Sounds strange doesn't it . . . yet it's the absolute truth. Tests prove that the so-called lubeless cars require just about the same amount of time to lubricate, inspect and service as cars having conventional fittings. This is an important point to get across to customers who are owners of those '6l and ‘62 models having lubeless fittings. Many of these customers are under the impression that they have purchased a car that is practically maintenance and service free. This is far from the truth for NO car is service free. Actually, on those cars with the pre-packed or sealed fittings this feature is but a small part of the total lubrication service and inspection needed by the car. To prove this point here are some of the items that require frequent and periodic attention to keep a customer's car operating efficiently, economically and safely: of oil and grease filled reservoirs in transmissions . . . differentials . . . steering gear boxes . . . power steering reservoirs; jXEngine points . . . crankcase . . . distributor . . . generator . . . linkage; jXßody points . . . door hinges . . . locks . . . strikers . . . hood release cables . . . weatherstripping; points . . . parking brake cables and pivots . . . speedometer cables . . . springs. Even pre-packed fittings need care, much as the car manufacturer attempts to play this point down. It all boils down to the fact, that even though service intervals have been lengthened and lubrication needs reduced, all cars still need regular service and safety inspection. Regardless of the kind of car you have, you'll be ahead money and time if you make sure your car is lubricated and inspected regularly . . . and preferably at 1,000 mile intervals . . . but at least every time the oil is changed.
