Maberry of Greenwood and chairman of the Young Women’s Christian Association Adult Committee, has announced the inception of a new Homemakers Series at the YWCA downtown building, 329 North Pennsylvania Street. This weekly morning series (9:00 to 12:00 M) will include a variety of programs followed by an exercise period and a plunge. The programs will include a Millinery Demonstration, Book Review, “Cue to a Lovelier You,” Copper Enameling Demonstration, and a Surprise Program. The purpose being to afford ■homemakers an opportunity for mid-week relaxation and stimulation. A Playschool for children age 2% to 6 years will be offered on the morning of this series. Starting Saturday, March 24, 1962, Dr. Dena Cederquists’ Food For Life series will be presented over Channel 4 WTTV on Saturdays at 3:00 p.m. In twenty-two programs Dr. Dena Cederquist, internationally recognized authority on nutrition, goes from appetizers to zabaglione (a delicious and fattening Italian dessert), pointing out some little known but fascinating and important facts about the food we eat—or don’t eat. This series deals with nutrition. It explains how foods sustain life, how different kinds of food produce different effects, and how the housewife can plan meals that are nutritious, economical, and yet delicious. But Food For Life will interest not only the housewife, it also will give her husband and children some valuable tips about midnight snarltg and picinic lunches. Dr. Cederquist illustrates her lectures with demonstrations, laboratory experiments, charts and diagrams, ynd, of course, presents some sample meals. Benefit Social Members of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish will hold an afternoon and evening social in Lyons Hall, 5333 E. Washington Street, on Sunday, March 25th, for the benefit of the St Mary’s Child Center. All proceeds derived will be used for the retarded children there. Senior Scout Conference “Looking Around,” with emphasis on international understanding and friendship will be the theme of the 1962 Senior Girl Scout Conference to be held March 23-24 at Indiana Central College. Representatives from councils in six midwestem states will attend. SQUARE DANCE Square dancers from all over Marion County will dance to Don Dodds and several other wellknown callers March 23 at a benefit square dance in the cafeteria of Decatur Central High School, 5200 Highway 67 West. Proceeds from the dance, which starts at 8 p.m., will go toward the purchase of new uniforms for the Decatur Central band. Indiana Central College Choir At Herron Museum Music of yesterday and today will be presented by the Indiana Central College Choir at Herron Museum of Art on Sunday, March 25, at 4:00 pm. The concert will be open to the public at no admission charge. Choir director is Allan Schirmer, and Carol Carlson is accompanist. The major work programmed is a motet by Mendelssohn, “My Prayer,” featuring Linda O’Dell Jones as soloist.
