ST. CHRISTOPHER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH (Continued from Page 1) Society will attend a half-hour of Vesper services beginning at 7:30 pjn. in the church. Sons of the members of the Holy Name Society will receive corporate Holy Communion with their fathers at the 8 o’clock Mass Sunday morning. A Father and Son breeakfast of ham and eggs will be served in the school social room after the Mass. The guest speaker at the breakfast will be Mr. Robert Kryter of Speedway. His subject will be “Spitniks, Satellites and You.” Mr. Dick Carroll, president, will preside at the meeting. Beginning next Sunday morning, January 14th, grade school catechism classes will be held at 9:15 (after the 8 o’clock Mass), instead of after school during the week. These classes will be conducted by our Franciscian Sisters. The same books will be used. Father Richart began this year’s Inquiry Class Wednesday evening of last week by a discussion on the Seven Sacrament. Since tile Life of Christ catechisms, which were used last year will be used and completed this year, along with other books, anyone who attended last year’s class, and has no further use for his book, has been asked to loan his book to new members of this year’s class. However, if he doesn’t want to give it us, then he is asked to come, bring and use his book in class himself. Classes start promtply at 7 o’clock, and last for exactly one hour. They are held in the church basement, and not the school social room as incorrectly stated last week. Your prayers are requested for the repose of the soul of Ricky Wheasler, a St. Christopher eighth grader, who died last Thursday and whose funeral Mass was said at St. Christopher Monday morning. Joe Daley of 1732 Gerrard Drive was operated on last week at the Methodist hospital. His room is S-234. Mrs. Daley told us Monday evening that she hopes to be able to bring Joe home Friday. Joseph Cohen of 1658 Allison street is also at the Methodist hospital His room is B-209. He is undergoing tests on account of a bad kidney infection, and it is not known now when he will be able to come home. Your prayers are requested for both of them, as well as for others who are sick in our parish. Our Cadet basketball team (Bth graders) won the game last Saturday with Christ the King, 26 to 20. They are now in second place in their league with 4 wins and 1 loss, and are steadily improving, said their coach, Bob Sullivan. They play St. Jude at North Street Center at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13th. Our ‘67’ basketball team (6th and 7th graders) lost to Holy Trinity last Saturday. They have won 3 games and lost 2, and their coach, Jim Rolles, said that they are pretty good. They play St. Michael’s at Holy Trinity Saturday morning, January 13th, at 10:00 a.m. St. Christopher’s four Junior CYO representatives attended the monthly Junior CYO Council meeting Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at the CYO office on West 16th street. All Junior CYOs in this area send their representatives to these meetings, where CYO activities are planned. On Monday evening, the Sacred Heart Discussion Group met with Marie Hatch at 8 o’clock. Mrs. Pat Chance was hostess for Our Lady of Fatima group at 8:30 p.m. on the same evening. The Ave Marie group met with Billy Dunn on Tuesday night, January 9th, at 8:00 p.m. Father Lindemann was unable to say Masses Sunday. Father Head of the Latin School said the 8 o’clock Mass and Monsignor John Doyle, Chaplain of Marian College, said the 11:30 o’clock Mass. On Monday morning at 8 o’clock, a High Mass was sung for Joseph Schevetsehnau at the request of Sister Anthony Marie. The Joseph Beberdick family requested an Anniversary Mass on Tuesday morning for Henry Beberdick and Mary Buehner. The Mass on Wednesday morning was said according to the intention of the Bernard Flynn family at the request of Mary Zener. Today, the Mass was said according to the intention of William and Jane Wheasler. The Elmer Cooper family requested the Mass. Friday morning Mass will be said in accordance with Lillian Such’s intention, as requested by her children. Joanne Wurth will be remembeered in the Mass Saturday morning at the request of Joseph Krieger. The boys and girls of St. Christopher need everybody’s help in saving and collecting S. & H. Green Stamps. Won’t you help? You can mail them direct to the school or parish or give them to some boy or girl you know. Now that Christmas is over, maybe the boys and girls can have your stamps for awhile. Yes? When you give stamps for the new school bus, you are giving help directly to St. Christopher, because it will take between $7,000. and SB,OOO. to buy a new school bus, and a new bus it must be next year. Pray your Rosary daily for peace in the world. Nora Bray

the city, has been interested in the Grand Canyon country since boyhood, and has made three visits there within the last ten years. He will tell of the customs and the daily life of the Navajo, Hopi, and Havasupai Indians. The Havasupai, numbering about 150, are the smallest Indian tribe in the United States, and live in Tavasupai Canyon. Some of his slides relate to the Indians, and others to the scenery of the Canyon, showing rock formations and strata. The inner gorge of the Canyon, he points out, shows the oldest exposed rock in the world, being black schist and pink granite. He will describe the walk into the Canyon, a distance of nearly twelve miles

A Girl Scout class in prints will meet at the Museum from 2 to 4 o’clock Saturdays in January, directed by Miss Laura Holden, Museum staff member. To accommodate girls unable to enter the class, which was quickly filled, a second class earning the same badge will be held in February on four Saturday afternoons. “My World” badge will also be earned by another Scout class meeting in February.
