Dances from the ‘Louisiana Story’.” Also scheduled is Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 4” being played for the first time in Indianapolis, and to be the feature presentation. The above combination of new and old selections was chosen because of its wide appeal. An interesting point is that it constitutes a program to be performed when the Orchestra goes on tour early in the Spring to the Southland.

THE SPEEDWAY FLYER
Handel’s “Water Music” as arranged by Harty is from a period when music was light, gay and melodic and the Delamarter selection is a fine example of that composer’s wit and humor. The selection by Virgil Thomson, “Acadian Songs,” won him the Pulitzer Prize and is from his score for the famous Robert Flaherty movie, “Louisiana Story.” Tickets at $1.50, $2.00, $2.75, $3.25 and $4.00 are available at the Symphony Office, ME. 5-9596. A first in history . . . The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will participate in a “Bier Garten Pops Party” Saturday night, December 9th, at 8:00 p.m. in the Fairgrounds Coliseum. The Orchestra, under the baton of Renato Pacini, will present a program of favorite Strauss Waltzes, Broadway Hit Tunes and zestful polkas. There will be a delightful array of soloists for this program including Patti Gallagher, soprano; Bob Morrison, baritone; and through the courtesy of Embers Supper Club, Peter Nero, jazz pianist and his combo. Mr. Nero, according to Billboard Magazine, “is one of the top three new jazz personalities of 1961.” Refreshments galore will be served by colorfully attired waitresses as you sit at gaily decorated tables or in the Mezzanine, without a table, but with a ringside view. Tickets are $2.00 and SI.OO and may be obtained at the Symphony Office in the Murat Theatre or the Claypool Hotel Ticket Office.
