It can operate fore and aft of the main propulsion motors to assist in staging, velocity trim and coast. Other advantages point to the fact the Allison attitude and velocity control system has no effect on pay load capability, can operate whether or not the main stage is firing, and provides exception-ally-good component reliability. In orbital space vehicles, this compact system can be mounted to control a single stage, or a series of stages. For ballaistic rocket applications, the unit can be fitted in any position consistent with the design of the main rocket body.
