"Story Of Deer Mouse" At Children's Museum “The Story of the Deer Mouse” will be the topic of Saturday’s 11 o’clock program at the Children’s Museum when Miss Judy Penney, senior student at Butler University, talks to the children about the activities, eating habits, and nests of this small mammal. Also called the white-footed mouse, these creatures have pure white feet and underparts, large black eyes with an alert expression, and short tails. In many regions of the country, Ihey are among the most abundant of the mammals, and nest in hollow stumps, low knotholes, old woodpecker holes, and comers of barns. Miss Penney will tell more about their lives to the audience that will meet in the Assembly

Room at the Museum, in the new wing. A native of Gary, she spent last summer working under a National Science Foundation grant, studying animal population among field mice, deer mice, and shrews. She plans after graduation to do research work in the natural history field. Nature walks through city parks, sponsored by the Museum on Saturdays throughout the fall, will be scheduled again next spring. Girl Scout badge classes meet each Saturday afternoon, a rock and mineral badge group being in session in November. Scouts and Campfire Girls will form a weather badge class to meet in December.
