ST. CHRISTOPHER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH (Continued from Page 1) our Holy Father, Pope John XXIII, through St. Christopher, will be taken up at all the Masses Sunday, October 22d. The children of St. Christopher will have their Annual Hobby Show on Wednesday, October 25th. All exhibits must be in the church basement by 7:00 p.m., as the judging will start promptly at 7:00 p.m., and will take approximately two hours. There are four categories, skilled craft, which will include sewing, kit craft, collections, and baking. No box mixes are allowed in baking. The exhibits will be judged in three classes .. . Class A, grades 1,2, and 3; Class B, grades 4,5, and 6; and, Class C, grades 7 and 8. There will be thirty ribbons awarded in all. First class winners are eligible to exhibit at the K. of C. Show on November 3d in competition with all the other parishes. Children may pick up their exhibits after 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night after the judging or after the 8 o’clock Mass on Thursday morning. Mrs. Rita Vaughn is chairman and Mrs. Idelle Akers co-chairman. Mrs. Phyllis Fieber is Youth Chairman. Since Thursday and Friday of next week are free days at St. Christopher school on account of teachers’ institute, all exhibits must be picked up by Thursday morning. We were so sorry to hear Monday that Mrs. Nettie Altheide, mother of Catherine Keating, was taken to St. Vincent hospital

John Burkhard of 5122 West 10th street, who has been ill some time, was operated on Monday at St. Vincent. His condition, as reported Monday evening, was good. His room number is 228. Your prayers are requested for both Mrs. Altheide and Mr. Burkhard, and all of the sick in our parish. High Mass at 8 o’clock Monday was sung for Joseph C. Keller at the request of friends and neighbors of the Norbert Keller family on Christopher Lane. On Tuesday, the Mass was in thanksgiving to St. Christopher. Wednesday morning’s Mass was also a Mass of thanksgiving. Effie Moran requested the Mass this morning for her husband, John Moran. Tomorrow morning the Mass will be said for Mary Catherine Parker at the request of the Bloom Flower Shop. ’ Joseph Young has requested the Mass Saturday morning for Julia Gleason. Let us all remember Florence Zore in our prayers on the anniversary of her death, Friday, October 20th. Florence was one of the early members of St. Christopher and was much loved by all who knew her. Monsignor Reine left St. Vincent hospital Monday afternoon for the home of his sister in Indianapolis for awhile. Father Richart teaches at Cathedral High every afternoon. The fifth grade attended Sacred Heart Devotions Wednesday night of this week. During this week and continuing into next, several ladies of St. Christopher volunteered to have Coffees in their homes for the benefit of Our Lady of Fatima Retreat House Building Fund. CYO Annual Fish Fry, supervised by the adults, is Friday, October 27th . . . Carry-Out Service at 4:30 p.m. . . . Cafteria serving at 5:00 p.m. ... in the social room of the school building. There’ll be fish, hot dog and coney sandwiches, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, potato chips, and white and chocolate milk, and coffee to drink And, there’ll be homemade pumpkin, cherry, apple and lemon pies fresh from St. Christopher kitchen. Charles Renie and Mrs. Leonard Benedetto are general chairman, Sue Whitmore in charge of kitchen, Rose Sherman in charge of dining room, Ann Martich at Steam table. Norma DeWitt at Carry-Out, and Betty Mandabach in charge of pies. Public is invited.
