And of the group which answered the questions pertaining to school facilities, 88 per cent said they prefer that the Speedway school system retain independent status as opposed to the county school form of education. That the average Speedway resident prefers to trade in his own home area is borne out by the fact that 77.5 per cent of those answering the survey said they shop in Speedway. Implications of the report and how steps can be taken to remedy conditions residents feel need attention will be discussed at the Monday meeting, which is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public. In action at last Monday night’s special meeting, the Town Board: 1. Approved Police Chief Glenn Collins’ recommendation that stop signs replace the present yield markers on 21st Street at Winton Avenue, and that the 25th Street-Lyndhurst Drive intersection be made a four-way stop. 2. Voted to increase the adult school patrol wage rate from $55 to $65 per month. 3. Gave the green light to plans to erect a 70-foot communica tions tower near the Town Hall to improve two-way radio contact between mobile units and the base station at a cost of approximately SBOO. 4. GIRL SCOUTS AT STATE FAIR The Moosier Capital Girl Scouts and their leaders will be guests of the Indiana State Fair Board on Scout Day, Wednesday, August 30, the opening day of the fair. Scouts wearing uniforms or carrying 1961 identification cards will be admitted free to the grounds and to the performance at the grandstand which will begin at 12 noon. A program presented by the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts will precede the Western Horse Show starting at 1 p.m. Throughout the fair period and on International Day, Tuesday, September 5, Girl Scouts will present international dances and other programs on the outdoor stage adjacent to the International building Sure to click is the expanded photography contest in the Women’s Building at the Indiana State Fair.
