time many suggestions have been made by our local citizens with the main theme being the creation of a bigger and better parade with the teen age motif as the most desirable form of parade. In response to their requests from the reesidents of Speedway, the Speedway Business and Professional Men’s Association has agreed to sponsor a parade on a much larger scale that will do justice to our community. This parade is not in any way to be misconstrued as a commercial venture as that is not the intent of our organization. It is not to be misconstrued as a competing parade to the “500” festival parade. Our hats are off to the city of Indianapolis and their “500” festival committee for a tremendous job well done. In any way that we can cooperate with them as to timing of our parade in order not to conflict with their events will be one of our main goals, since we intend for this to be Em annual

affair. This year we anticipate a crowd of between 50,000 and 100,< 000 people to view our spectacle. In view of the enthusiasm being generated within the sponsoring organization, a new look will be on display in Speedway this year. At the present time our organization has built new race cars to hang from the light poles (we lost some last year to souvenir hunters) and are now in the process of being painted. All stores in the business area are going* to be fully decorated this year with bunting for the first time. Race cars will hang from all the poles in the main business area again but will be further augmented with plenty of bunting. All major intersections will be gaily decorated with bunting and welcome signs. For the first time, the town of Speedway will truly have a festival air about it and it is the sincere desire of our organization that the town will respond likewise.
