PERSONALS Jeanne Piper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Piper, 1711 Norfolk, Speedway, is among committee members working on the annual I. U. Sing, March 3 and 4, at Indiana University. Co-sponsors of the traditional songfest, given for the first time on a weekend to accommodate out of' town visitors, are the YWCA and YMCA, both United Fund agencies. Entitled “Where the Songs Are,” the two day choral production will feature 41 groups, seven ■•“ intermission acts, and a band. Over 1,000 are expected to participate in the sing. Miss Piper is on the judges and awards committee. / Miss Susan Kuczenski, 2343 Fisher St., underwent an emergency operation Sunday morning and is in St. Vincent’s Hospital.

School was dismissed last Monday due to the fact that a large number of teachers were out of town over the weekend and could not get back until during the day on Monday. These absences plus the normal number due to illness made it impossible <to secure enough substitutes for all classrooms. The program for the March PTA meeting to be presented by the music department is printed elsewhere in this issue of the Flyer. Results of the girls’ basketball class tourney last week were: Seniors 32, Freshmen 3. Juniors 32, Sophomores 19. Sophomores 30, Freshmen 5. Seniors 34, Juniors 22. The varsity basketball squad lost a hard-fought game to North Central in the Indianapolis Sectional Tourney last Thursday night. The Sparkplugs led 23-19 at the half, but were outscored 31-23 the second half and lost by a 50-46 score. Speedway finished the season with 15 wins and 6 losses.
