Develop systematic evacuation procedures for thedr areas. Working under the authority of the Corp of Army Engineers and the Speedway Town Board, Mr. E. Kridler the Town Engineer, has and is helping to train this section and insure that the town has on hand (the immediate essentials for possible defensive measures. Although this Flood Control section is primarily composed of endangered residents, in times of emergency there will be a great need of volunteers to work under their trained leadership. And for those residents who feel that this section is only working for their own protection, let me say that the men and women of this section are definitely one of the hardest working group training to help in all types of emergencies. Maybe it’s because they know Speedway is not immune to disaster and that there is no better insurance than preparedness. Next Wednesday is March Ist. At 7 p.m. the siren will be sounded for its monthly test. Let me again emphasize that this is your 10 minutes to use for home and family preparedness training. No amount of reading or wishful thinking will take the place of using your Home Protection Exercises as a guide and actually practicing some of them.
