The Indiana Association for Mental Health today was honored by the national organization for its fund raising efforts. The citation presented states: “The National Assn, for Mental Health presents this citation to the Indiana Association for Mental Health for achieving 100 per cent of estimated fund raising potential during 1961. It is signed by Marka T. duPont, president. Dr. Paul E. Burns, of Montpelier, chairman of the 1960 campaign, survey and enrollment program in Indiana, added “our state was among the top five fund raising associations in the United States and in actuality we raised 148.82 per cent of our quota.”

INDIANAPOLIS HOME SHOW Once again the Indianapolis Home Show featured centerpiece house will display the Gold Medallion, awarded by the Indianapolis Power & Light Company for electrical excellence. An actual metal replica of the medallion was presented to Pappas Brothers, builders of the totalelectric Westinghouse display house. The medallion will be affixed to the door of the completed home. The total-electric features which earned the Gold Medallion award include electric heating, all-electric kitchen and laundry, “light-for-living” fixtures and lamps and “Housepower” wiring to provide conveniently-located circuits and outlets for lighting and appliances. In addition, the house is completely air-conditioned by a heat pump. Both heating and cooling equipment, as well as the electric appliances, are supplied by Westinghouse. The all-electric kitchen includes a Westinghouse built-in oven, counter-top surface cooking units,

Lighting in all rooms was installed in accordance with Indianapolis Power & Light Company recommendations which are based on the high standards established to provide modem “light for living” in both use and interior decoration. "HEART FUNDS" Harris B. Shumaker, Jr., M.D., chairman of the department of surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine, will head Marion County’s drive for “Heart Funds.” Announcement was made today by Dr. Wendell Shullenberger, chairman of the Marion County Heart Committee, who said the goal in Marion County this year is $145,000. ed out that it was especially significent that Dr. Shumaker lead the drive because of his contributions to research in the field of cardiovascular surgery. Dr. Shumacker has been head of the surgery department at the University since 1948 and is presently a member of the American Heart Association’s board of directors. The drive for “Heart Funds” is held annually during the month of February throughout the country and comes to a climax on Heart Sunday which, this year, is February 26. On this day 8500 volunteers in Marion County will call door to door to collect funds to support further research, and additional educational and community service programs. On of the local heart group’s outstanding community service programs is its blood typing program and its assistance to open heart surgery patients in providing blood donors. Priscilla Circle will introduce and show the film, “The Long Stride.” This is a story of Hongkong, Korea and the Middle East Refugees. Choirs. We hope several from our church will be able to attend. Los Amigos will have a pitch-in supper tomorrow (February 10) at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. For those who will be unable to come to the supper but wish to hear Mrs. Jones from the Peoples Temple, we wish to state that the program will begin at 7:30. The “Mr. and Mrs.” Class (young married couples) will have a supper in the Singletons Room tomorrow (Friday) evening at 6:30 p.m. The committee has worked ha trying to notify the several young couples of our church so they might attend this get-acquainted party. We hope for a big success. Kezia Circle, as a new project, is initiating this month “Operation Friendship Basket.” The purpose of the project is not only to fatten the treasury but enrich friendship as well. Watch for it! The Senior Hi Chili Supper originally scheduled for Wednesday, February 15, has been postponed until March 15th because of inability to secure a head cook. A special Thank You to Mr. Kryter from the young people of Senior Hi for the splendid lecture and pictures of his African trip. They were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and deeply appreciated. Such an educational program was in keeping with the year’s theme, “Into All The World Together.” Mrs. Heiser wishes to remind the Senior Hi’ers who forgot their penny jars, to keep filling them—and those who did bring them, to start over—the dedication will be March sth. The Rose on our lectern last Sunday announced the birth of Jeffrey Duane White, born January 17th to Mr. and Mrs. Albert White, Jr., of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. New Members.
