Everyone in foe community is invited to this beautiful service. A musical prelude to worship will begin at 10:30. Christmas is foe birthday of Christ and one of foe finest ways of celebrating it is to worshop Him in His House on Christmas Eve. “Good Tidings of Great Joy” is foe theme on which Rev. Howard X. Wright will speak at both services of worship on Christmas Sunday, Dec. 25. At foe 9:00 o’clock service, foe Crusaders (children’s) Choir will sing. The Chancel Choir will sing foe anthems, “Christmas Hymn” by Jungst and “A Joyous Christmas Song” by Gevaert at foe 10:45 o’clock service. Commission on Education will meet on Monday, Dec. 26, at 7:30 p.m., at foe church. A New Year’s Eve Candlelight Communion Service will be conducted between foe hours of 7:30-5:30 pm., on Saturday, Dec. 31. Thwaanctuary will be candle lighted. The service will be quiet You may come for a brief period anytime during foe hour and leave whenever you desire. The minister will be at foe chancel rail to give communion to all who desire it One need not be a member of foe church to partake of communion. You are invited to make this New Year’s Eve a time of real spiritual renewal.
Children's Concert The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, under foe baton of Renato Pacini, Associate Conductor, will present a Young People’s Holiday Concert, Wednesday morning, December 28 at 9:30 and 10:45 am. at the Murat Theatre. Featured soloist will be Joy Shoemaker, who was a soloist with the Orchestra in 1956, when she was winner of foe statewide Young Pianists’ Contest. Nok, a 1960 graduate of Indiana University, the twenty-one year old pianist is married and makes her home in Indianapolis. She is affiliated with Riddick Piano Company. Mrs. Shoemaker will perform the First Movement of foe Greig Piano Concerto. Also programmed for the youthful audience’s holiday enjoyment are: Overture to Russian and Ludmilla by Glinka; Caucasian Sketches by Ippolitov-Ivanov; Bizet’s Pastoral from L’Arlesienne Suite and A Christmas Festival by Anderson. There are still plenty of tickets available for the 9:30 Concert, although the one at 10:45, which is sponsored by the Girl Scout Organization, is completely sold out. Tickets, at 25c for children and 50c for adults, are on sale at foe Symphony Box Office at the Murat Theatre. Bell Telephone Hour The popular and traditional music of Christmas will be presented in “Twas the Night Before,” on the Bell Telephone Hour over NBC television on Friday, December 23. Maureen O'Hara will be hostess on the program, which will also feature Rise Stevens, John Raitt, the Columbus Boychoir, the American Ballet Theatre and Donald Voorhees and the Bell Telephone Orchestra. Miss O’Hara, famous as an actress on both screen and stage, will present carols of her native Ireland on the program. Rise'Stevens, star of the Metropolitan Opera, and John Raitt, star of the musical theater, will make their first TV appearance together to sing traditional carols and Christmas hymns. The Columbus Boychoir will present a group of the carols for which they have been acclaimed in concert appearances from coast to coast The American Ballet Theatre will dance “Les Patineurs,” the popular ballet descriptive of ice skating, to music by Giacomo Meyerbeer.
