The ladies selling pecans are very sorry that they ran out of nuts over the week-end, but their supplier in Florida failed to get a shipment to them by Friday as promised. However, she advised Helen Beberdick, chairman, Friday that because of the warm weather down there the nuts were not falling fast enough, but that it was raining then and that she thought that she could get the ladies a shipment here by the first of the week. The ladies ask your patience, and they will rush the orders through just as soon as pecans are received—and thanks for all the orders which have been received and delivered. Pray your Rosary daily for peace in the world. Nora Bray

Postmaster Urges Early Mailing Postmaster, Walter A. Smith, who has launched his “Mail Early For Christmas Campaign,” believes a word to the wise will help make your Christmas and that of your friends a merry as it should be. With Christmas only a little less than a month away, the Indianapolis Post Office already is geared to insure the delivery of all gift packages and Christmas cards by December 24th, but your cooperation is essential. There are about 167 million people in the United States today, said Mr. Smith, and more people means more mail. That’s why it is so important to have a helping hand from the public to “MAIL EARLY FOR CHRISTMAS.” He directed his appeal especially to the “lady of the house” because she usually selects the Christmas cards, buys most of the gifts and sees to it that the Christmas mailing list is up-to-date. Predicting that this year’s Christmas mail will set a new alltime record, exceeding even the great volume of mail handled in 1959, which was about 6% greater than 1958. The postmaster urges

the public to take the following steps at once. Check your Christmas card list very carefully, making sure that each address includes the full name, street, and number, city zone, and state. Also ask for the free labels reading “All For Local Delivery” and “All For Out-Of-Town Delivery” so that you can speed arrival of your cards by sorting and tying them in two separate bundles, with addresses all facing the same way. Stock up on your stamps now, and remember too, that only Christmas cards bearing 4c or 7c air mail postage, may include a personal message, or be returned if undeliverable. Nothing more than a signature is authorized on cards bearing 3c postage. Plan your mailings so that those for the most distant points go first. Try to get all of your long distance mailings into the post office before December 10th, and nearby points by December 15th. The best time to avoid crowds at the Stamp Windows are before 10:00 a.m., and between 1:30 and 3:30 pjn. Don’t forget to use Postal Zones and Local and Out-of-Town labels.
