Itr ; ! /{ " : ** | * f ••• f ; \ -n What many people don’t know about crabgrass 1. Crabgrass grows only from seed. The dead crabgrass plants you see now will disintegrate and disappear-leaving ugly bare patches in your lawn. Crabgrass is an annual It re-seeds itself at the end of each summer. 2. Last year’s seed is in the ground. Crabgrass is one of nature’s most prolific weeds. Right now, literally bißions of crabgrass seeds are waiting in most lawns for spring warmth to germinate. Then the vicious cycle starts all over again. 3. You can keep it from comingup. A single winter application of Halts with the accurate Scotts Spreader creates an invisible barrier against crabgrass. Halts lies in wait, kills crabgrass as it sprouts. ( Halts will not harm good grass—doesn’t interfere with seeding.) SAVE ss.oo—Halts (9.95) plus Scotts Spreader (16.95) together only 21.90 Bring your lawn problems to our expert advisors. They have the know-how and the experience to help you achieve the kind of lawn you want. Its easier than you’d think, with a tested Scotts Program!

30. The game had been postponed because of sickness on the Lions team. Final score was Cardinals 20, Lions 0. Late in the first quarter the Cardinals scored their first TD. Rick Glidewell charged through the Lion line and pitched a lateral to Brad Black who raced 38 yds. for the TD. Bill Layne scored the extra point. The Lions took the kickoff and marched to;.the Cardinal 12 yd. line before lineman Terry Thompson, Tom Farley and Alan Bullington and linebacker Bill Layne ganged up on the Lion ball carriers. The Lions ran out of downs on the Cardinal 18 yd. line. The Cardinals took over and - on the first play Brad Black ran 82 yds. for the second Cardinal score. Rick Glidewell hammered up the middle for the extra point. Both teams played to a stand-
off in the third quarter. In the fourth period the Cards moved from mid-field to the Lion 2 yd. line. Rick Rost scored the final Cardinal TD of the season. Mickey Giant in at fullback was stewed short of the extra point Three Cardinal players deserve great credit for their outstanding display of sportsmanship. At game time it was discovered the Lions had only 10 players present Cardinal players Rick Glidewell, Rick Rost and Erie Hermerding volunteered to play with the Lions during their scheduled bench time. They were instructed to give their best while playing for the Lions. This they did. As a matter of fact in the third quarter Rick Glidewell took the opening Cardinal kickoff, shook off four Cardinal tacklers, and nearly broke free for a TD before being overwhelmed.
