SPEEDWAY CHRISTIAN CHURCH (Continued from Page 1) The chancel bouquet for next Sunday will be given by Mr. Glen Collins and daughters, in memory of baby Cherie and Mrs. Helen Collins. The Young Settlers Class will have a “favorite dessert” party Sunday evening, October 9th, at 6:30 p.m. For the program, Mr. Robert Kryter will speak on “Adventures in Africa.” All Young Settlers, or anyone desiring to become a member of the class, bring your favorite dessert next Sunday evening to Fellowship Hall. Coffee and milk will be furnished. Rev. Theo Fisher and Rev. H. Gray Russell will be the speakers for the dinner meeting Monday, Oct. 10 to present the program for the Decade of Decision. This is a Brotherhood-wide program and representatives from the major groups of our church life will be present to hear these dynamic speakers. There will be a meeting of the entire Official Board and trustees next Tuesday, October 11th, at 7:30 p.m. This is the regular meeting night and should be attended by all members, as there are important matters to be discussed. Ladies Aid Circle will meet Wednesday, October 12, at 1:30 p.m. in the Bethany Room. Mrs. Verner Farmer will be hostess and Mrs. Ganz Hammer, Sr., will give devotions. All Church School superintendents and assistant superintendents from crib room through 6th Grade will meet Thursday, October 13, in the Bethany Room at 7:30 p.m. Los Amigos Class will have a pitch-in supper in Fellowship Hall on Friday, October 14, at 6:30 pan. Senior Hi CYF young people will leave the church at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15 (after breakfast) to go to Camp Na Wa Kwa at McCormick’s Creek for the annual Fall Retreat. Mrs. Heiser advises next Sunday (October 9) is the last day to make reservations —52.75 per person.
The Senior Hi CYF wishes to thank everyone for making their paper sale last Saturday a success. Mr. Robert G. Ward, 5847 Woodside Drive, united with our congregation last Sunday and was baptized. The roses on our lectern last Sunday announced the birth of ■Cheryl Lynn Harris on September 24th. The parents are David and Barbara Harris and grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Harris. Also, a rose was for Robert Curtis Mayo, bom September 26th to George and Sharon Mayo. The offering envelopes for next year beginning the first Sunday in November will be in the narthex next Sunday for those people whose name begins with “A” through “K.” The following Sunday will carry the remaining of the alphabet. We have Sunday School classes for all ages, a wonderful Nursery and Sunday School classes for children thru the 6th grade at both worship services, and a warm, Christian fellowship. You are invited to worship with us this Sunday. Commission on Stewardship and Finance will meet tonight, at 7:30 pan., at the church. Crusaders Choir will rehearse on Friday, October 7, at 3:15 p.m., at the church. Immanuel Choir will rehearse on Friday, October 7, at 4:15 p.m., at the church. Chancel Choir will rehearse on Friday, October 7, at 7:30 pan., at the church. Sunday, October 9, promises to be one of the most memorable days in the life of the Speedway Methodist Church. At both the 9:00 and 10:45 o’clock services Rev. Howard E. Wright will occupy the pulpit. At the 9:00 o’clock service the Crusaders Choir (children’s) will sing. At the 10:45 o’clock service the Chancel Choir (adult) will sing the Anthem, “Be Thou Not Still” by Foltz. At the latter service Mrs. J. Thomas Huston will sing the Offertory Solo, “Soft Were Your Jiands, Dear Jesus,” by O’Hara. In the afternoon on Sunday, October 9, at 3:00 p.m., the Service of Consecration for the new education building and sanctuary will be held. Bishop Richard C. Raines, Resident Bishop of the Indiana Area of the Methodist Church, will preach. The Chancel Choir will sing the Anthem, “Praise To The Lord” by Christiansen. A trio, Mrs. William L. Shelly, Rita Meggenhofen, Mrs. Delbert Lyons, will sing, “Lift Thine Eyes” by Mendelssohn. An Open House and an informal fellowship and refreshment period will follow the Service of Consecration. Everyone is cordially invited to attend this memorable service. All Christian Education-Workers, (teachers, associate teachers, youth counsellors, Commission on Education members) will be recognized and formally consecrated at the 9:00 and 10:45 o’clock services this Sunday, October 9. Our Church Loyalty Crusade which began last Sunday contixues through Thanksgiving Sunday, November 20. “Every Member Worshipping In God’s House Each Week” is the goal of the crusade. We are grateful for the loyalty of those who are helping to make the crusade such a spiritually successful one. Sacrament of Infant and Children’s Baptism will be observed at the 10:45 o’clock service on Sunday\October 9.
