GIRL SCOUT NEWS Concentrated work on all the Tenderfoot requirements have filled the March and April meetings for the Brownies of Troop 557. Three pleasant interruptions have beeq a Mother-Daughter evening March 16, at the home of Co-leader, Mrs. William Hendrickson; a hike to the Meadowood Park on Saturday, April 23 where two of our fathers, Mr. Earl Dunnuck and Mr. Robert White, taught the correct use of compass and scout knives. Our leaders gave further instruction in laying, following and destroying a trail. Lunch of wieners and all the fixings were enjoyed by the girls. This weekend the Brownies were on duty at the Girl Scout Festival and they all were

pleased to see the booth the Speedway troops had put together. Many thanks to our fathers who helped at the hike and all the women who drove our Brownies to the Festival. Speedway neighborhood Girl Scout Leaders meeting will be an outdoor day on May 12 at Camp Dellwood. Bring a nosebag lunch and cup and service. There will be songs, craft and a nature hike. Leaders bring your troop crafts to share. We will hike to Dellwood from Mary Zimmers on Cunningham, leaving at 9:30 a.m. If you are driving adjust your time accordingly. The telephone committee will be calling for reservations. Others who are interested are welcome and should phone reservations to Esther Thompson, CH. 4-5525.
