Dial was remembered at the request of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Swallow on Tuesday. The Joseph Novajoskey family had the Mass said on Wednesday for William Pline. This morning the Mass was for the special intention of Harry and Mary Phillips. Margaret Stieglitz will be remembered tomorrow at the request of the Kenneth Amick and Joe Daley families. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. John Keating will be remembered at the request of the James and Robert Keating families. PAPER SALE at St. Christopher this week-end—Friday, Saturday and Sunday with pick-up sometime before noon on Monday. As usual the empty crates will be placed on West 15th street behind St. Christopher school. Bring your old papers and magazines down if you possibly can. P.T.A. Board Meeting The PT A Board will meet Tuesday, May 3rd at 9:00 a.m. at the home of Ruth Colclesser, 5833 Meadowood Drive. GIRL SCOUT NEWS Troop 471 collected books for the Indiana Girl’s School library as a service project. On —pril 1 we had a Hayride, after which we had refreshments of somewhat burned popcorn, pink lemonade, and toasted marshmallows. On Monday, April 11 we had a Court of Awards. Those receiving badges are as follows: Pioneer, Janet Farley; My World, Susan Callahan, Barbara Jo Curry, Mary Schrock and Mary Sue Southworth; Camp Craft, Janice Atkinson, Mary Schrock and Linda Lewter; Outdoor Cook, Janice Atkinson, Mary Schrock and Linda Lewter; Good Grooming, Mary Schrock; Homemaking, Mary Jo Zimmer, Janet Farley, Linda Lewter, and Barbara Love. On April 11-13 we had a double overnight at Dellwood. We had loads of fun. The best meal and I think everyone will agree, was Tuesday noon, we had pot roast, potatoes and carrots, waldorf salad and pudding cake. On April 19 Girl Scout Troop 450 had a cook-out at Eagle Creek Park. The mothers of the girls planned the cook-out. The girls played, ate and then played again. We want to say thanks to the mothers who drove.
Girl Scout Friendship Festival The first Girl Scout Friendship Festival swings open its doors Friday, April 29th at 6 p.m. at the State Fair Grounds. Every conceivable phase of The Scout program will be presented in “Our Town, U.S.A.” Local Scouts will present “Community Life in Speedway.” Three large layouts will show the growth and changes of our community from the first 500 mile race in 1911 to the present day. In addition to the booth activities, 58 Seventh Grade girls will participate in the 4 p.m. “Spectacular” on Saturday afternoon. These girls will present “Varsovienne” a Polish Folk Dance in .Native costume. Mrs. Helen Leonard has devoted many hours teaching and working with this group. We hope every one will visit the Festival and stop in at the Speedway Booth. Adelia Chapter I.T.S.C. The Adelia chapter of the International Travel Study Club will meet at the Warren Hotel May 2, 1960 at 6:30 p.m. The program will be colored slides travelogue. The hostess will be Virginia Bennett, Alice Farley, Bemiece Davis, Gerry Amick, Josephine Dishon and Ruth Thomas. Episcopal News Members of the property committee of St. Johns Episcopal Church met last Monday night at the home of Paul Wever with Mr. Edward Grebe and Mr. Donald B. Davidson to discuss with the architect Mr. David Meeker of Edw. James Associates the final drawings of our new church which will be located in the Meadowood area near 30th St. and Moller Road. Members of this committee appointed by Fr. Lowe, are S. C. Lampman, Chmn., Paul Wever, M. A. Short, Iva Smith, and Katherine Jamieson. The Women of St. Johns also held their monthly meeting last Monday at the home of Christine Sprouse. A main point of interest was the election of officers of the organization for the next year. Those elected were Mary Thomas, President, Angela Wylde, Vice Pres., Mary Ann Dinwiddie, Secy., Dora Baird, Corresponding Secy., and Jo Ann Chapman, Treasurer. Plans were discussed by the ladies for providing meals for the election board May 2nd. Our ladies feel very fortunate to be selected for this job as it will give them an opportunity to obtain funds for future good works. Mrs. Paul Smith President now of this service organization invites any interested ladies call her at CH. 4-0243. Fr. Lowe was very pleased at the large number of people that attended our Easter services, it was by far our greatest attendance since our founding.

Pancake Supper The Aunt Jemima will be at Grace Lutheran Church, 24 S. Lyndhurst Dr. for a Pancake and Sausage Supper on Friday, April 29th. The Supper is being sponsored by the Grace Lutheran Parent Teachers League with Mr. Geo. Kellogg, vice pres., in charge of arrangements. Supper will be served from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available from PTL members or at the door. The cost will be 75c for adults and 50c for children under 10.
Westwood Country Club The Westwood Duplicate Bridge held their first game 8 table Mitchell . movement Monday night, April 25th. Winners were, North South Beth Blind and Gene Nesbit, Ist, 2nd and 3rd tied—Frances Nesbit and Maxine Cook and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Zishka, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Simon, 4th. East West, Ist, Mabie Winsted and Helen Clevinger, 2nd, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blair, 3rd, Betty Smith and Ruth Peebles and 4th, Vera Pein and Naomi Bell. The regular game will be held next Tuesday night, May 3rd at 7:30 p.m. They will meet the first and 3rd Tuesdays of each month. The 7th and Sth Grade Record Hop will be held Saturday night, April 30th. Dancing from 7:30 to 9:00 followed by a splash party. Wear slacks or bermudas! If the children are not going swimming will the parents please pick them up at 9:15. The Life-Saving classes will start Tuesday night, May 3rd, at 6:00 p.m. To register call the Club office, CH. 4-3305. The annual fish fry will be Friday and Saturday, May 6th and 7th. We still need a lot of help for the dining room, serving lines etc. If you can help call Mrs. Barnes at CH. 1-1368 or the Club office. EDDLEMAN-HICKS * ■ . Miss Judith Kay Eddleman and John C. Hicks were married at 11 a.m. Saturday in the St.. Christopher Catholic Church, Speedway. The Rev. Fr. Leo A Lindemann read the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orlando J. Eddleman, 1939 N. Auburn. Mr. Hicks is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Booth B. Hicks, 1925 N. Holmes. Miss Jill Ann Eddlemen, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Clark Hicks, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Miss Donna Hicks, sister of the bridegroom, and the Misses Phyllis Woods, Mary Ellen Benedetto, Theresa Rosner, Mary Jo Riedy, Theresa Murphy and Kathleen Murphy were bridesmaids. Michael Dohse of Wabash, James Watkins of Spencer, Robert Kikendall, Gary Hicks and Bill Jones were ushers. Kathleen Ann Murphy was flower girl and Christopher Kikendall ring bearer. The bride wore a gown of white Chantilly lace and cupioni silk. It had a bateau neckline, long sleeves and sculptured bodice. The gathered bouffant skirt was of lace and trimmed with seed pearls. It formed a chapel train. The bride wore a silk hat appliqued with seed pearls and iridescents and a two-tiered illusion veil. She carried a semi-cascade of lilies. The bridal attendants wore bouffant dresses of pink taffeta and organza and hats formed of rings of pearls with scalloped veils attached. They carried baskets of pink roses. The maid of honor wore a similar dress of turquoise. The flower girl wore a short pink dress and carried pink sweetheart roses. A reception was held in the church social room. The bride traveled in a full brown and beige silk dress and bone accessories. She was graduated from St. Agnes Academy. Bridesmaids gave a shower for her.
Card Party The Women’s Club of St. Michaels Church are sponsoring a Card Party-Style Show Friday, April 29th at 7:30 p.m. This party is open to the public. There will be door and table prizes. Mu Phi Epsilon Guest Day The Auditorium on the sixth floor of William H. Block Company’s downtown store will be the scene on Saturday, April 30, 1960 at 2:00 p.m. of the annual Guest Day of the Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, national music sorority in the professional field.
In the receiving line to welcome the better than two hundred guests expected will be Miss Rachel Boothroyd, President, Mrs. William M. Crain, Vice President, Mrs. James R. Vbting for King and Queen candidates is picking up in tempo according to reports from participating members of the Speedway Business and Professional Men’s Association. In order to vote for one of the deserving candidates all you have to do is to ask the cashier at one of the stores mentioned below and they will give you a ballot. Each penny of your purchase is considered as one vdte. After you have filled in the name of your choice, hand the ballot to the cashier and they wi’l fill in the number of votes your purchase entitles you to. Since this is the end of the first week of voting, we are unable to give any standings as yet. However, next week’s issue of the Flyer will carry the standings as ol Friday the 29th of April, if the adding machines do not break down.
