Mrs William Yoder is president of the Altar Society. Monsignor Goosens will narrate a film on the Holy Lands this evening at the meeting of the YCA at Holy Name Parish in Indianapolis. Next Sunday every man, woman and child win be given an opportunity to be a part of the flowers used on Holy Thursday and Easter Sunday by placing their offerings, large or small, in the baskets held by members of the Altar Society at the doors of the church after all Masses. Girl Scouts Buzzin' Over Their Festival Approximately 400 Speedway Girl Scouts visited the “500” track on Sunday afternoon, April 3rd. Speedway Scouts are keenly interested in “Our Community” and are also visiting other industries, Town Hall, etc. to see “Our Town” at work. These projects are part of the preparations being made for the Girl Scout Friendship Festival to be held April 29 and 30th at the manufacturer’s Bldg. Over 20,000 interested people are busy at work to present to the public what Scouting is and - what it means to us all. Here on the 2 days mentioned you will really see Girl Scouts in action. From the youngest Brownies to the older Senior Scouts. All Girl Scouts have tickets to sell. We hope many, many will plan to attend.

Baseball News Have you purchased your membership in the Baseball Ass’n.? No! It’s not too late as the drive ends April 15th. We need each and every one’s support on this, our Biggest Speedway summer project. Each year the program has been growing and we find ourselves in need of more funds to carry on. This year is no different. At last Friday’s meeeting it wSjS plainly indicated we would have more boys this year. We urgently solicit your membefship. It will be appreciated. Properly supervised summer recreational programs help keep our boys occupied and off the streets. It teaches sportsmanship and teamwork. Where else can we make available good clean fun ► under free parent supervision. If you have been missed, please call Nelson Schein, CH. 4-9872 or Wm. Sipe, CH. 4-2501. They will have your contribution picked up. Actual ball practice will probably start in D and E league within 2 weeks if weather permits. A, B and C teams will be delayed probably due to school programs, but will get under way soon. All boys living and attending school in the Speedway area are eligible during the following season. The age classifications are: Class A, Under 19 years by Aug. 1; Class B, under 17 yrs. by Aug. 1; Class C, under 15 yrs. by Aug. 1; Class D, under 13 yrs. by Aug. 1; Class E must be 8 years old by April 1. Those boys who are younger than 8 years may play in the Park League in Speedway. Last year this was supervised by Dave Burns and I’m sure it will be going this year.

Clermont Methodist Church An every member canvass will be started April 9th in order to plan budget and plan for purchase of new parsonage. The chairman of the committee is Ray Ruff who will head the teams making the canvass in approximately one week.
Racing Homemakers Racing Homemakers will meet on April 19th at the home of Pinkie Methier. Co-hostesses are Jane Watt and Grace Baker. For the lesson on Aluminum Etching, please bring a hard lead pencil, a small paint brush and rags. Another project will be available for anyone not working on Trays or Billfolds.
Triple "C" Homemakers The Triple “C” Homemakers will hold their meeting on April Bth because of Spring Vacation. We will meet at 10:15 in the lobby of the Circle Tower Bldg, after which we will go to the Patricia Stevens School for a lecture on Personal Charm. Guests are welcome. We will return to the home of Marie Boatman, 5619 Maplewood for lunch and a short business meeting and our “White Elephant” auction. All proceeds will go to buy supplies for the new Westside School for Retarded Children. This project is being done in cooperation with the Tri Kappas and we hope all of our members will be present to assure a nice meeting and a successful project.

Adelia I.T.S.C. Adelia Chapter held its regular monthly dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, at the Central YMCA. Tables were decorated for Easter by the hostesses, Mabie Bradley, chairman; Mary Hanson, Kathryn Baxter, and Minnie DeMoss. The program was “Wabash River Country,” and “The Old Canal System of Indiana.” Lioness Meeting The next Lioness meeting will be held April 18th. HUNT-NEWHOUSE Ronald A. Hunt and Patsy Newhouse were united in marriage at the Speedway Christian Church, Saturday, April 2. The bride is the former Miss Patsy Newhouse. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Hugh M. Newhouse of Whiteland. Mr. Hunt is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Hunt, 2006 Cunningham'. Drive, Speedway. The Rev. Ray H. Montgomery Jr. officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
Miss Arleen Goodman of Straughn was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. David E. Baughman of Whiteland, Mrs. Ronald L. Eastburn of Greenwood, Miss Victoria A. Long of Columbus, Miss Nancy E. Weiller of Baltimore, Md., Miss Becky Wolf and Mrs. Paul Merchant. Attendants wore aqua silk organza over taffeta sheath dresses with back sashes and matching headpieces, x’hey carried small open umbrellas covered with pink roses and carnations.
Phyllis Sandlin and Bradley Wike, both of Whiteland, were flower girl and ring bearer, respectively. Carl Bond of Colfax, la., served as best man. Ushers were Terrill D. Newhouse of Rushville, Philip G. Sosinski of Fort Wayne, Steven White of Terre Haute, Richard Cowan and Frank Miroff. The bride wore a gown of Chantilly lace fashioned with jeweled scoop neckline and chapel train. She carried amazonica lilies, stephanotis and a white orchid. A church reception was held. The bride attended Indiana University and is a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Mr. Hunt is an alumnus of I.U. and now is a student in the I.U. School of Dentistry. He is a member of Phi Gamma Delta and Delta Sigma Delta fraternities.

Speedway’s Own “500” Festival
The Speedway Business and Professional Men’s Association this year are sponsoring a “500” Festival for the town of Speedway. This gala occasion will be climaxed with a parade featuring the S.H.S. Band and the coronation of a King and Queen. Hundreds of dollars in prizes will be in store for the King and Queen and their court. The King and Queen candidates will be selected by the people of Speedway. To be a candidate, you must be a high school student and a resident of Speedway. Nomination boxes will be placed in all stores of participating members of the Speedway Business and Prof. Men’s Assoc, and nominational for candidates will be open from April Ist to April 15th. We will select the winning candidates in each class, i.e. Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior, and they in turn will be placed on the final ballot which will consist of one boy and girl from each class. From April 21st to May 20th voting will take place in all the member stores. Full details will be in the Flyer 2 weeks from today giving all the details on the final voting. Used Clothing Needed The Lutheran Churches of Marion County are sponsoring an appeal for good used clothing to be used for relief in all parts of the world; especially in the Holy Lands, Hong Kong, Korea and Europe. Clothes may be brought to St Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 5360 West 16th Street in Speedway, beginning Easter Sunday and anytime during the week following. The front door of the Church will be open at all times and clothes may be left in the entry way. Specially needed are all items of clothing in good repair and cleaned; blankets, baby clothes and shoes in good condition. Please do not send neckties, open toe or spike heel shoes, or any items which would not hold up under hard wear.
