Little League (Continued from Page 1) were stopped by a charging Cardinal line. Lion kicker Rick Arnajo got off a nice punt and the Cards took over on their own 30. On the first play Duane Carter galloped 55 yards to the Lion 15 yard line. Paul Shinkle on the next play scampered around right end for the touchdown. Tom Jacobs barrelled over right tackle for the point.
The Lions received the kickoff and after one first down were again stopped short. The Cards took over at midfield and moved to the Lions 35 with guards Jim Geiman and Bud Collier seeing action as ball carriers. Carter then went the 35 yards into the end zone, but the ball was brought back to the 20 on an illegal use of hands penalty. Paul Shinkle charged to the one-foot line. Then Mickey Giant was switched from center and carried for the score. Right end Rick Glidewell was switched to halfback and scored the extra point. On the second play of the second half halfback Duane Carter sprinted 60 yards for the third Cardinal tally. On the point try, Guy Rouch was smothered by Lions left linemen Bob Hoffman, Roger Herchberger and Steve Tipton. „ The remainder of the game was

During the second half Cardinal linemen Dale Kropa, John Sullivan, Leo Harrold, Dick Thielking and Jim Yarberry displayed their versatility by carrying the ball from the halfback post. Intermediate Division. Eagles 14, Falcons 0: Kenny Craig, Eagles fullback, scored on a triple reverse early in the first quarter with Steve Smith, halfback scoring the point after. Paul Parks, Eagles lineman, caught the 2nd half opening kick off and ran it back 55 yards for a touchdown. Kenny Craig added the extra point on a pitch-out. The entire Eagles team played a good defensive game with key tackles being made by Dale Amich, Jeff Cohen and Paul Parks. Kenny Klutz, Mark Hermerding and Larry Jones played a fine game for the scoreless Falcons. In a game played a week ago last Saturday, the Yellow Jackets defeated the Eagles 28 to 6. Last Saturday the Yellow Jackets shut out the Colts 13 to 0. Wilkerson made both TD’s and Skelton added the PAT. McGillard and Shows were outstanding Colt defense men. One lady suggested using strips of old rags for string to tie up the papers, thus saving the cost of string. Please bring your newspapers and magazines, and corrugated boxes, down and help fill up the crates. ANNUAL TURKEY DINNER and Fall Festival, Sunday, November Ist. Serving begins at 12 Noon, cafeteria style, in the dining room in St. Christopher school building. St. Christopher's Hobby Show was judged Saturday afternoon by Brother Francis, C.S.C. and Brother Albert, C.S.C., both of Cathedral high school and Anita Dreiling, a senior at Marian College. The judges did a beautiful job, spending two hours in diligent care in selecting the winners. The exhibits were on display in the social room of the school building after all the Masses Sunday. Class A represented the work of the Ist, 2d, and 3d grades; Class B, the 4th, sth and 6th grades; and Class C, the 7th and Bth grades. The first and second winners were: Skilled Craft, Class A, Jeanette White and Linda Dillon; Class B, Marcia Hermann and Richard Wheaseler; Class C, Sharon Egler and David Wall: Kit Craft. Class A, Richard Zeph and Frank Burton; Class B, James Tuttle and Donna Hermann; and, Class C, Joseph Geiman and no second: Collections, Class A, Diana Wagner and David Webber; Class B, John Bray and Mary Jane Harold; Class C, Diana Harper and Tim Anger: Baking, Class A, Anita Vaughn and Donna Medvescek; Class B, Nancy Zeph and Nancy Starks; and Class C, Ann Zishka and Charon Egler: Sewing, Class A no entries; Class B, Nancy O’Neal and Donna Herman; Class C, Ann Zishka and Barbara Glidden. The winners will go to the City-Wide Hobby Show at the K. of C. next Tuesday night, October 27th. The show will be from 7:00 to 9:30. Here, the winners will receive trophies instead of ribbons. Then the winners from the City Wide Show will go to the State Wide Exhibit at the Fairgrounds later. Mrs. Elmer Cooper is Youth Chairman at St. Christopher. On Sunday, October 25th, Home Coming Day and Open House will be at Marian College. Jean Ann Cooper, age 9, of the 4th grade of St. Christopher school will appear again this year in the opera, Madame Butterfly, which the students of Marian will present Sunday evening in the auditorium. Jean Ann is the daughter of Elmer and Catherine Cooper.
Mary Ellen Benedetto was chosen for Freshman 1959-1960 Cheerleader at Marian College last week. Congratulations, Mary Ellen! Mrs. Charles Goldey is ill in Methodist hospital. Florence is in Room B-858. Prayers are requested for her that they will find what is causing the terrible pains in her face. She has been suffering for a long time. Mrs. Francis W. Hughes, N.C.C.W. delegate from St. Christopher, and her committee, with ladies from St. Thomas Aquinas and Assumption will serve as hostesses at the Indianapolis Deanery C.C.W. Quarterly Meeting at the Catholic Community Center tonight. On Monday morning at eight o’clock, the High Mass was said for Floyd Gale as requested by Mr. and Mrs. Chester Good; on Tuesday morning, an Anniversary High Mass for Jack Moran, requested by his widow, Effie Moran; and on Wednesday morning for Joseph Bartley, requested by the Edward Bartley family. Free Days at St. Christopher school Thursday and Friday— Teachers Institute. Rev. W. F. Stineman of Marian College will be the guest speaker at the annual meeting of the Indiana College Home Economics Club at Butler University tonight. Little Sisters of the Poor have received permission from His Excellency the Archbishop to take up a collection for the aged at all the Masses on Sunday, October 25th. Next week is Catholic Youth Week. On Sunday morning, October 25th, will be the National Catholic Youth Communion Sunday at Christ the King. St. Christopher grade youth groups and Junior C.Y.O. will receive corporate Holy Communion at the 8 o’clock Mass at St. Christopher. Junior C.Y.O. officers will participate in the city-wide Communion and breakfast at 9 o’clock and Holy HalfHour at 5:30 in the afternoon.
