With 4:10 to play in the game, the two Sparkplug ends smeared the Hornet kicker in the end zone adding another 2 points to the score. The gun sounded with Beech Grove on their own 10 yard line, unable to move the Speedway line. The Plugs outrushed the opponents 225 yards to 67 with Maple, Hackett, and Zornigor accounting for 179 of them. The Hornets had 5 Ist downs as to Speedway’s 11. Speedway’s double reverse and end around plays worked to perfection time after time, leaving the defense dazed and bewildered. The stout Plug lineplay, by far the best of the season, was led by tackle Dave Wills who personally accounted for 5 tackles. The Plugs close their very successful season next Monday evening at Decatur Central October 19 at 6:30 p.m.
