ST. CHRISTOPHER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH (Continued from Page 1) in this activity is not only invited but urged to come. It is the wish of the Holy Father that our adult Catholic people put forth a real effort to acquire a greater knowledge of the faith. As a member of a Discussion Group you will find it interesting, pleasant and rewarding while at the same time drinking in a deeper knowledge of your faith. The job of brushing and painting the iron rails on the steps of the church was not finished last Saturday by Charles Adler and his helpers. Chris Ringwood and a group of men will try and complete the job this Saturday. He would be happy to have more volunteers. Today a goodly number of St. Christopher ladies attended the Indianapolis Deanery National Council of Catholic Women Annual Workshop at the Catholic Community Center, 542 College, Indianapolis from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Each lady took her own sandwiches and coffee was furnished by the Deanery. There were workshops on Youth, Missions, Literature, stressing obscene literature, Discussion Groups, Retreats, and Hospital Work. Mrs. Frances Hughes is St. Christopher N.C.C.W. delegate and Mrs. James Breen is alternate. Mrs. Elmer Cooper is our Youth Chairman and Mrs. Joseph Daley, Discussion Groups Chairman. Mesdames Christopher Ringwood, James Murphy, Marion Fieber, and George Nordmeyer are some of the ladies who regularly go to the Veterans T.B. hospital and to the Central hospital. A group of St. Christopher ladies go quarterly on Sunday morning to Veterans hospital on West 10th street and act as escort service to patients who wish to attend Mass. The High Mass a 8 o’clock on Monday morning was said for the living and the dead of St. Christopher parish. Joseph and Jule Daley requested the Mass on Tuesday morning for John Brockman and the Mass on Wednesday morning for Anna Anderson. On Thursday morning the Mass was said for Frieda Ash Walter at the request of Mrs. Maureen Wojciehowski. Francis Enders was remembered in the Mass on Friday. His daughter, Frances, requested the Mass. Mrs. Elmer Cooper is coaching the Cadet Kickball at St. Christopher this year. A game was scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday, St. Christopher vs. Sacred Heart, here, And a game is scheduled for Friday, September 25, St. Christopher vs. St. Monica, there. On Monday afternoon, all children attending public grade school and their mothers attended an organizational meeting at the Rectory at 3:45 o’clock. This was an important meeting inasmuch as the classes are to be divided differently this year and new material is to be used. All Catholic children attending either public grade schools or public high schools are required to attend religious instruction classes. The Boys Choir began singing at the Wednesday evening Sacred Heart of Jesus devotions again this week. The eighth grade attended the Devotions. With vacations over and life getting back to normal more and more people are attending this beautiful devotion. The services begin at 7:30 and close at 8 o’clock. All children of St Christopher who take part in any of the athletic activities are covered by a blanket school accident insurance, unless they are already covered by a similar insurance. This week all the children in the school were invited to be covered by this insurance. Don’t forget the date of the second annual Junior C.Y.O. Fish Dinner—OCTOBER 9. Pray your Rosary daily for peace in the world. Nora Bray
