Baseball Finale Baseball season wound up on August 24, 1959 with League officers and coaches as dinner guests of Speedway State Bank at Rene’s. On the same evening approximately 350 boys were guests of the Indianapolis Baseball Club. In review of the season just past it is interesting to note that 375 boys, age 9-18, from this community made up 22 teams all of which played a regular sumer schedule. Total expenditures for the season amount to $3,977.50 including insurance, bats (175), balls (452), catching equipment, uniforms and equipment for two new traveling teams, normal replacement of worn out uniforms, etc. With the closing of the season the present Speedway Association Baseball Board of Directors and Officers wish to thank the many coaches, league chairman, and others who gave freely of their time and talent for the boys of this community.
