Notice to Speedway Residents As many of you know, the residents of this town (particularly in the older sections) have been plaqued by low pressure and low water flow in your water service lines. This problem has occurred due to the continual build-up of iron matter within the service lines, restricting the flow more and more as time passes. The Water Company has continually sought for a suitable method, whereby these restricted service lines might be improved; however until this time no suitable method was evolved. For the past two weeks the Water Company has been making a study of a method which seemed to show a great deal of promise in its initial trials. The results have been so promising that the Town is taking this opportunity to announce that this service is being made available to residents who are experiencing these low pres-sure-low flow difficulties; however there are several conditions we ivve to place upon this service. Because there is always the possibility of any pressure method causing leaks, complete clogging, ruptured lines, etc., the Water Works will have to be relieved of any responsibility from damages incurred as a result of their efforts to open the lines. Actually there is very little chance of damage in this method but we must caution that the possibility does exist. Because the Water Works does not have sufficient personnel to carry out major service line repairs, it cannot take the chance of performing the service unless it is legally released from the possibility of major time consuming repairs. This release must be signed by the property owner and will read as follows: I, .. being the owner of the real estate commonly referred to as hereby request the Speedway Water Co. at its earliest convenience to attempt to improve the water flow within my water service lines. I understand that this attempt to improve my service line may cause the service line to leak, rupture, become completely clogged or damage the pipe in other ways. If any of the above damages do occur as a result of the efforts of the Speedway Water Co. to improve water flow, I hereby release said Speedway Water Co. of all responsibility and liability. I also agree to immediately contact a qualified plumber to make the necessary repairs at my expense. Name Address Date Notary or Witness The service will not be attempted until the release has been signed. The release can be signed at the Utility Office or at the home but in either case let us emphasize that is must be signed by the property owner. The service will have to be performed more or less at the convenience of the Water Works in order that the regular work may continue; however at least one of these service relief jobs will be scheduled daily. During inclement weather as many as four per day can be carried out. Work orders will be made on a first come-first served basis. If the flow is determined as being over 10 gals, per minute, the service will not be performed because the possibility or improvement will be small. Performance of this service requires two men approximately two hours. They must have access to the basement of the home. The resident of course will be without water for this period of time. The Water Works anticipates a large demand for this service and
consequently expect quite a back log of orders to accumulate at first. Please bear with us during this period. We would like to point out that in post of the older sections the piping is of smaller size than present codes allow and seven with improved flow in many cases the demands of today’s water consumer exceeds the capacity of the small pipes. Speedway Water Works Speedway Homemakers Speedway Homemakers will meet at the home of Bye Parke, 5571 Broadmoor Plaza with co-hostesses Helen Kelly, Ann Guion, Loretta Skeeters, Lara Jordan. There will be a covered dish luncheon. Hostesses will furnish meat, rolls and coffee. Lessons will be on Christmas ideas. There will be a talk on Dried Flowers.
