The Town Board has approved a lumber storage and ware house to be located immediately North of the New York Central Railroad on Cunningham Road. Means of financing a water storage tank for the Meadowood area and enlarging the Town Hall building will be discussed at the next Town Board meeting. TOWN NOTICE The following preliminary requirements governing the nomination of candidates for Town of Speedway Officials will be observed at the Convention which will be held in the High School Gymnasium on Tuesday, August 25th at 7:30 p.m. 1. Entrance to the building will be through the side door which is between the two buildings. This is the only door by which you may enter. 2. have in your hand some identification, such as a drivers license, club membership card or even a post office cancelled envelope with your name and address. Other qualifying requirements besides living within the corporate limits of Speedway are (2) be a citizen of the United States; (b) be of the age of twenty-one years or upwards; (c) not be a disfranchised person undergoing a sentence of imprisonment on conviction for a felony or misdemeanor.

After everyone has been seated the meeting will be called to order, a permanent chairman and secretary of the convention will be elected. Proposed final and permanent rules for the convention will be read aloud as follows: (a) The usual rules of order shall be in force and most particularly before anyone can be heard he or she must be recognized by the Chairman. Upon recognition he or she shall announce their name and address to the Secretary. (b) The nominations of Candidates for the Office of Trustee shall be opened. A Candidate for any one ward shall be nominated by a person living within the ward for which the nomination is made; the same rule shall apply to the “second” of the nomination. The nomination of ClerkTreasurer may be made by any resident of the Town regardless of his or her ward boundary. Nomination for the Clerk-Treas-urer shall follow those for Trustees and the 9ame rules shall apply to said nominations. Candidates will be introduced at the close of nominations and permitted to address the Convention if they so desire. Time for each Candidate shall be limited to three (3) minutes. (c) At the close of the nominations, voters will use the ballots in their possession to chose one Candidate for Trustee from each ward and one Candidate for the office of Clerk-Treasurer. After reasonable time is given for such balloting, the Ballots shall be collected by a person or persons appointed by the Chairman and said Ballots shall be counted in the same room in which the Convention is held in the presence of

seven (7) people, three (3) of which shall be the Duly Constituted Board of Election Commissioners of the Town of Speedway; the fourth shall be the Secretary of the Convention, and the remaining three (3) to be appointed by the Chairman from the Floor of the Convention. (d) After the count of the votes, the results shall be announced in their entirety and the two receiving the greatest number of votes for each office shall be considered the Nominees. The Candidates receiving the highest number of votes in each ward shall be called the Citizens Ticket and the Candidates receiving the second highest number of votes in each ward shall be called the Peoples Ticket. (e) _The Candidates will then be separated into two groups for the purpose of establishing two (2) representative Tickets which shall be indorsed by the meeting. Each voter should aquaint himself with his ward boundries. (See Ward map in this paper on Page 6). However, each voter may vote for one candidate for Trustee from each Ward and one ClerkTreasurer at large. When the order of business is completed, the Chairman upon proper motion may declared the Convention closed and the nominations completed. J. W. Baxter
