Myers, president of Pacific Airmotive, “These three Allison Prop-Jet Super Convairs represent the start of a program which we expect will rapidly extend through many airline and corporate fleets. The Allison engines and Aeroproducts propellers for these aircrafts are identical to the power packages in the Lockeed Electra which 15 airlines now have in use or on order.

Change For Indiana Bell Building Indiana Bell is going to give its 12-story headquarters building in downtown Indianapolis a face-lifting and a bath. Instead of a “Saturday night bath,” this one will last about three months. Workmen will start at the top of the building and work their way downward, cleaning off the soot, dirt and grime with a mixture of cleaning material and water sprayed onto the limestone under high pressure. “It will be a lot like washing down a wall, except this wall is almost 214 feet tall,” said G. P. (Pat) Lattell, Bell’s division manager. The workmen aflso will tuck point, caulk and grout masonry joints in the building. Littell said exposure to the weather has eroded some of these masonry joints, and lit was economical to clean the building ait the same time the maintenance work is being done. A pedestrian walkway will be provided around the building while workmen for the Restoration Company of St. Louis do their scrubbing and repair work up above. They will start the job about mid-August. Indiana Bell has occupied the corner of Meridian and New York Streets since 1906. The company outgrew its first building at that location—an eight-story brick—and moved all 11,000 tons of it around the corner in 1930 to make room for a new seven-story limestone building. Five more floors were added to the limestone structure in 1950, thereby creating a sort of “high water mark” between the old and new stone. This fall’s bath is supposed to erase that mark. Littell said the cleaning operation will help beautify downtown Indianapolis, where the Indiana Bell building is one of the more prominent landmarks. Its 12 floors are about equal to 16 in an office building because ceilings are much higher to accommodate dial telephone switching equipment. The St. Louis workmen, who have cleaned such other big buildings as the Missouri and Arkansas statehouses, will work with two hoses hooked into a single nozzle where the cleaning material and water are mixed and blown against the building. Windows will be taped to keep the mixture out of offices and equipment rooms, and plaitfOrms will be suspended from the top of

congenital deformities of the heart and their correction in children, and the study of hypertension. With these awards the Indiana Heart Foundation completes its sixth year of providing funds for research in Indiana institutions totaling over $450,000. These funds are contributed during February, known nation-wide as “Heart Fund” month. According to the research committee of the Foundation, which reviews requests for grants, three other projects have been approved for support pending additional funds which may be forthcoming from the Foundation’s Memorial Gifts program. The Krannert Fund of the Marion County Heart group, and the American Heart Association, of which the Indiana Heart Foundation is an affiliate, also provide research funds annually, making the total grants to state and national heart research from the Foundation during 1959-1960 more than $160,000. Sessue Hayakawa What is considered to be the most unusual theatre event of the season will be presented at Avondale Playhouse, Tuesday, August 11-16, when Sessue Hayakawa will be starred in “Rashomon”. Hayakawa, for years the leading Oriental star in Hollywood, is best remembered for his performance as the memorable Japanese Colonel Saito in “Bridge on the River Kwai”. He received an Academy Award nomination for that appearance. “Rashomon”, based upon the movie which was named “best film in the world” in 1951, is a thrilling mystery of sex and murder. Entirely in English, the play is of a Japanese soldier who is murdered by a bandit who then seduces the soldier's wife. The Avondale appearance will be among the first since “Rashomon” closed on Broadway following a successful six month engagement. The road tour is being launched in Chicago this week and the local engagement will be its second offBroadway appearance. Avondale performances start at 8:30 P.M. nightly. Tickets are available at the Box Office after 10:00 A.M., 4000 Meadows Drive, Indianapolis, LI 7-9627.
