Clermont Horse Show Breaks Records Clermont’s 15th annual horse show was the biggest and best to date. The gate receipts showed the largest attendance in the history of the show exclusive of the special Buffalo Barbecue in 1954. There were 351 entries in the 42 different classes knd events not including a record number of 50 boys entered in the calf scramble. The largest class was Women’s Western Pleasure which had 31 entries. Imagine the judges’ perplexing problem of picking Ist, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and sth places with 31 beautiful horses ridden by 31 beautiful girls circling him. Over 100 people attended the square and round dance Saturday night called by Bud Bragdon. At Sunday noon a beautiful new 16foot sign, “P. O. FER RE L ARENA,” was dedicated to the memory of former Lion P. O. Ferrell who was horse show chairman for 14 years before he died last year. Rev. Paul Hedden of the Clermont Methodist Church gave the invocation which opened the Sunday show immediately following the street parade.
