' Your s Ground Field Day Tomorrow Beginning at 9:30 tomorrow morning in the Main Park we shall again have a Field Day. Boys and girls will participate in relay races, basketball free-throw shooting, baseball throws for distance and for accuracy, pole climb, broad jump, horizontal ladder races, three-legged race, and base running against time. There will be separate divisions for each age group and Ist, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons to the winners. Those who accumulate the most points in each division will also win a trophy. We shall not sign up for these events ahead of time; all who wish to participate must be there at the time the event is to be run. If youngsters from Meadowood cannot find transportation to the Main Park, we cam take them down and back if they have a slip of paper from their parents. Story Hour Each Week Every Wednesday at 9:30 in the Main Park and at 10:30 in the Meadowood Park several young ladies will be telling stories to large groups of children. Westwood News Saturday morning, July 4th ait 9 a.m. Westwood will swim against Columbus at Westwood. Columbus was the champion team last year and is undefeated this season and Speedway is also undefeated this season. This should make a good match. Speedway “B” team (children’s first year) swam against Dolphin Club team and defeated them 170 to 149. Finnegan To Be Installed Lawrence Michael Finnegan, 5127 W. McCray, will be installed as master councilor of the Speedway DeMolay chapter Wednesday, July 1, at 8:00 p.m. in the Speedway Masonic Temple. Other new officers include Mike Anthony, senior councilor, and Richard Reed, junior councilor. A reception will follow the installation.
Starlight Musicals The Starlight Musicals, a series of seven productions begins Monday, July 6 and ends Sunday, August 23, a different musical being presented each week. Books of general admission tickets are available for the amount of $9.00. Each book contains ten SI.OO tickets which may be exchanged for reserved seat tickets of any price. Psi lota Xi The last meeting of the year for Gamma Theta Chapter was held June 25th at the home of Dulce Sawyers. Members enjoyed a pitch-in dinner and an evening of games, songs and fun. The officers for the coming year have been installed and are as follows: president, Dorothy Hanna; vice president, Kathleen Hunt; recording secretary, Ruth Parke; corresponding secretary, Ellen Jacks; treasurer, Berniece Robbins; conductress, Dorothy Fidger; Advisor, Janna King.
GIRL SCOUTS Girl Scout Troop 23 finished their year’s program witji a troop camp at Camp Dellwood, June 17 to June 21. While at camp the scouts completed their Cam per aft Badge. On Saturday night the parents and families of scouts came to camp for a pitch->in supper. That night we had our Court of Awards for the past year. A total of 83 badges were awarded. Those attending camp were: Nancy Amick, Helen Bledsoe, Sally Darling, Linda DeLong, Sue Johnson, Lana Little, Betsy Najar, Lynn Parks, Janet Thompson, Namcy Morris, Carol Smith and Pam Wise. The women who helped Mrs. Ralph Johnson and Mrs. Ralph Thompson at Camp were: Mrs. Ralph Carey, Mrs. Wendell DeLong, Miss Mildred Middaugh, Mrs. Robt. Darling and Mrs. Roland Najar. St. Mark Summer Schedule St. Mark Methodist Church announces the summer schedule of Services beginning July sth up to and including September 6th. Church School will be at 9:00 a.m. Morning Worship at 10:00 a.m. This is one half-hour earlier than the regular schedule.

Speedway Savings Will Observe 6th As Holiday In keeping with the spirit of our National Holiday—lndependence Day— The Speedway Savings and Loan Association, in cooperation with the other Savings and Loan Associations of Marion County and a large majority of the Banking Institutions will permit its employees to enjoy Monday, July 6th, 1959 as a day of rest. Consequently the office will not be open for business on the 6th. The last legislature enacted a statute authorizing this action which in effect guarantees a 5 day week to employees. Many of the local plants are closing Friday instead of Monday which permits their employees to take advantage of Savings and Loan hours on that day when the Association will be open until 5 p.m.
YWCA Summer Program Wesley Methodist Church The YWCA summer program at the Wesley Methodist Church at 30th and Tibbs will continue to meet for two days each week now through July 30th. Registration will be each Monday morning from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. Program is open to all girls entering the third grade through the 9th, and meets twice weekly each Monday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon. Program includes individual projects in clay, paper crafts, personal use, games including team sports, games for party use, relays, folk, square, ballroom, creative, and latest steps in dancing, group singing, folk and “pop” songs, informal skits, pantomime, tips on personal grooming, social skills topics of group interest. Enrollment may be for only one week at a time, for several weeks, or for the full five week period. Cost for the program is $1.20 per week payable each Monday morning at the time of enrollment. For girls riding the bus there will be adult supervision when boarding the bus at noon. For further information, call ME. 5-5471.
PERSONALS Deann Shari Earle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Duane S. Earle, was bom Saturday at the Methodist Hospital. She is a sister of Delane Sue and Dennis Scott, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Lynn Burton and Mr. Harold Earle all of Speedway. Mr. and Mrs. James R. Kelley of Los Angeles, California are visiting Mr. Kelley’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Kelley, 5430 West 20th St. Ocea DeLapp, suffered a heart attack this week. She is confined to bed at the home of her son, 4945 West 15th St. She is allowed no visitors or phone calls but cards would be welcome. Vickie Latimer, Shirley Westerberg and Carol Shuford report that they produced a clover chain 100 feet long.

Clermont's Annual Horse Show July 4th r sth The Clermont Lions Club is planning their 15th Annual Horse Show and Frontier Days celebration for Saturday and Sunday, July 4th and sth. This is the biggest affair of the year in Clermont. Beautiful show horses come from all over the state and a few from surrounding states. The show starts with a Quarter Horse Show on Saturday morning including 16 classes. Twentysix Western and English events run thru Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday. A free street parade is featured Sunday noon, led by Shrine Horse Patrol and Brownsburg High School Band. Rodeo events are featured both days with Calf Roping, Bulldogging, Bronc Riding. A free square dance is provided for exhibitors and spectators Saturday night after the show. The 18 acre Clermont Lions Community Park provides plenty of room far ovemite parking of exhibitors and daily parking of spectators. Wonderful food featuring chicken, a variety of sandwiches, salads, drinks and home made pies and cakes is provided by the Lions. Breakfast is served Bunday morning for exhibitors. The show will be a memorial to P. O. Ferrell who was Horse Show Chairman for 14 years before he died last year. The General Co-Chairmen are Paul Sawyers and Joe Miller. Willie Faulkner is chairman of the Western show and Ed Smither is chairman of the English sections. The Food Concession is under the guidance of chairman Dale Wainscott.
First Service Nears After some weeks of preparation, the new Mission of the United Church of Christ (Evangelical and Reformed-Congrega-tional Christian) is having the first service of worship—Sunday, July sth. St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 16th Street and Beeler Ave., is the site and 11:15 a.m. is the hour. Visitors are welcomed to this first and following services. July 26th, 10:15 a.m., the Sunday Church School will have its beginning. The minister of the new congregation, Rev. Howard Beer, 5021 W. 14th St., has moved his office into the Parish House at 16th St. and Beeler Ave.
Westside Family YMCA The Westside Family YMCA is rapidly filling up its membership with families interested in saving $25.00. The first years cost of $75.00 will be increased to SIOO.OO on July 4, 1959. Finance plans with no down payment are available or payment by cash. Each succeeding year the cost for the entire family is $35.00.

Camp For Crippled Children Station wagon transportation is available to crippled children of this community so that they can attend day camp ait Crossroads Rehabilitation Center during July. Two age groups will be included in the camping schedule. Boys and girls, aged 7 to 14, may be enrolled in either or both camping sessions July 6-17 or July 20-31. Camping hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. “Tiny Tots” three to six may attend camp July 6-31 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Registration blanks for Camp Crossroads for crippled children may be obtained from Miss Weir at the Center, WA. 6-2482. Free camperships are available from Crossroads, a member of the United Fund of Greater Indianapolis.
Special Program At Speedway Nazarene Church The Carolaires Quartet of Olivet Nazarene College, Kankakee, Illinois, will present an hour of sacred music at the Speedway Church of the Nazarene, Sunday |luly sth, 7:30 p.m., it was announced today by the Rev. Jesse Towns, pastor. Members of the quartet are Roberta Cosner, Three Rivers, Michigan; Beth Hatcher, Detroit, Michigan; Marilyn Kremer, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Lee Bolland, New Brighton, Pennsylvania. Appearing with the quartet to bring greetings from the college will be Dr. Ralph E. Parry, member of the Olivet faculty. Dr. Ralph E. Perry is chairman of the Department of Religious Education at Olivet Nazarene College. A native of the state of Ohio, he is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene College with the Bachelor of Theology and Bachelor of Arts degrees. He received his Master of Arts degree from the University of Illinois, and his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Bradley University. Dr. Perry joined the Olivet faculty in 1948 as college registrar and became Chairman of the Department of Religious Education in 1956. Speaking on behalf of the college, Mr. Perry will tell of its progress during the past fifty years and will describe its plans for expanding its present campus to house and train an increase of 50% in its student body, its anticipated growth during the next ten years. The concert is open to the public the Rev. Jesse Towns said.

Paul R. Oakes has been elected President of the West Side Optimist Club, succeeding Edward N. Baker. Other new officers include Earl Goodwin, Vice-President, Marshall Ney, Vice-President, Larry Venable, Treasurer, and Ray McKenna, Secretary. Mr. Oakes is a Sales Manager at Indiana Bell Telephone Company and resides *t 2819 Georgetown Road. The current project of the Club is a $6,000 program of rebuilding a youth center at the West Side YMCA, 604 N. High School Road. The West Side Optimist Club meets every Tuesday noon at McClamey’s Restaurant, 1435 W. Morris Street.

Reading Club Approximately 275 boys and girls axe now reading in the summer recreational reading program at the Library, and others are joining every day. Several have completed reading of the required 15 books and are reading more. Beginning next week we will list in this column the names of those who have qualified for the reading certificate by reading the required number. Hourse for the summer are: 912, 1-4, 7-9 Monday through Thursday; 9-12, 1-4 Friday.
Flatrock Camp Open To Westside YMCA Boys Westside YMCA boys from 9 to 16 years of age will have an apportunity of enjoying 10 days of adventure and good times at the Flatrock River YMCA Camp, August 6-16. The dominant purpose of the Camp is to guide campers in the practice of Christian ideals through cooperative living in God’s “great-out-of-doors.” Westside boys are registering now for their period, August 6-16. The cost for the 10 days which includes the bus trip to Camp Flatrock and return and insurance, is only $32.00. The 1959 YMCA Girls camping period is August 7-17.
Baseball News Indians and Meteors play July 4th at the Park at 3 o’clock. The Meteors defeated Mooresville 11 to 7 and Mars Hill 10 to 2 last week. Jim Roach and Doug Spitzer pitched against Mooresville. Tom Smith hit safely 3 times. 2 hits were made by Stan Hale, Dave Spitzer and Bob Maple including a home run by Maple.
