Tri Kappa News (Continued from Page 1) take place on the evening of Wednesday, April 8, in the social room of St. Christopher Church. Homemade candy will be offered for sale and there will be many nice prizes for lucky numbers in some of the candy purchases. Homemade cake and coffee will be served without charge to each guest. The table prizes are exceptionally nice and there will be many fine door prizes. The tickets are SI.OO each and may be purchased from any Speedway Tri Kappa or by calling CH. 48709. The proceeds from this card party as well as from all projects sponsored by the Tri Kappas of Speedway, are used for furthering their work in charity and scholarship. Although this chapter is young in years, having been installed on March 9, 1951, it has accomplished a great deal in the way of community service. Each year, a member of the graduating class of Speedway High School, who is chosen by a committee of teachers and the scholarship committee of the sorority receives an award of $200.00 to help on his or her college tuition. The Speedway Tri Kappas sponsor two girls who attend the annual Girls’ State at Bloomington. A donation was made when new uniforms were purchased for the Speedway High School Band.
Epsilon Eta Chapter sponsors the Girl Scouts of Speedway and each new troop is given a donation. Many donations have been made to Riley Hospital, the Marion County Guardian Home and many other worthy organizations. Along with all of the Tri Kappas in Indiana, the members of the Speedway chapter work for the Mental Health program and give a Christmas party, each year for a men’s ward at Central Hospital. Tickets for the Indianapolis Symphony concerts sponsored by the Speedway Merchants Association were purchased and used by local students. The Hoosier Art Salon is also sponsored by Tri Kappa. Delegates from the Tri Kappa chapters throughout the state of Indiana will meet April 10 and 11 at French Lick Springs Hotel. Mrs. V. F. McNaughton, president of the Speedway chapter, will be its delegate and Mrs. Russell Petit, the alternate, will also attend. Several other members are planning to go.
Earl Howe Jones Students In Recital Butler University’s Jordan College of Music will present high school students of Earle Howe Jones in a recital at the Odeon on Friday evening, April 10 at eight o’clock.
