the space age, in order to find more suitable materials to withstand the extremely low temperatures encountered in outer space. Constructed entirely of aluminum, Linde’s LD-25 is basically a large, extremely efficient vacuum bottle. It consists of two shells, with the space between drawn to a vacuum. This vacuum serves to insulate the inner container, thereby reducing evaporation of the liquid nitrogen. To further reduce evaporation, a special insulation, developed by Linde, is 9dded. This insulation contributes to a longer container life, and minimizes evaporation of the liquid content. Freshwater jellyfish found in Hoosier ponds, lakes and flooded quarries are being used at Indiana University in a cell-develop-ment study aimed at throwing light on cancer. Directing the research is Charles F. Lytle of Crawfordsville, a Research Fellow of the National Cancer Institute.
