Speedway Boy Scouts Troop Scoop It has become noticeable that more boys are coming to troop meetings all spruced up in their uniforms to stand inspection. After a Scout has won inspection nine times he is presented with an attractive medal. To win nine times takes months as competition is keen. John Bareham, Don Crain, Jim Hansen and Tony Ridolfo were presented with their medals at the December Court of Honor at Camp Belzer. The most recent winner, having just completed nine inspection wins, is Karl Wacker. We’ll wager Karl will be sporting his new medal on his uniform at the Methodist Church on Boy Scout Sunday, February 8. The Troop Committee is giving the Scouts “Good Turn Pocket Pieces.” However, the Scout must show evidence that he has earned it, by first doing a good turn for someone. The first three winners were quick to take advantage of recent ■ snows. All three brought in signed statements as evidence that they had shoveled snow for some friend or neighbor who was unable to do so himself. The winners were Paul Ross, Gary Sinkovic and Jack McAfee. The Good Turn Pocket Pieces are similar to half-dollar. It is placed in the left pocket at the start of the day, then secretly transferred to the right pocket after the first “Good Turn” has been done.
