Judge Resumes Law Practice K *■ a* jk / ''jMy ST JIIK Judge Norman E. Brennan
Judge Norman E. Brennan, who retired December 31, 1958, from the bench of Superior Court Room 3 where he served the past eight years, has announced the formation of a new law firm to be known as “Coates, Brennan, Hatfield & Calkins.” Judge Brennan has made an outstanding record as a fair and fearless Judge, having decided many important cases affecting not only the citizens of Marion County, but the entire State of Indiana. Judge Brennan was one of the youngest judges ever elected to the bench in Indiana and was the youngest judge when first elected in 1950 at the age of 31. Brennan also is credited with maintaining one of the most active and efficient courts throughout the State. His conduct of the court exemplified his belief in the high dignity of our judicial system and he evidenced this fact by being the only Judge of a trial court to wear a judicial robe at the time he first took office. This practice has been highly regarded by lawyers and judges alike throughout the State and has had much influence on other trial judges in the State who now wear judicial robes. In returning to the practice of law, Judge Brennan will associatewith Rob’ert E. Coates with whom he was a law partner before his election in 1950. Mr. Coates has practiced law in all of the Indiana and Federal courts for the past eighteen years. Other members of the new firm will be Ben F. Hatfield, Jr., who has been in practice for the past twelve years and who was engaged in practice with Mr. Coates under the firm name of Coates and Hatfield for the past eight years while Judge Brennan was on the bench. Mr. R. Ronald Calkins is the fourth member of the new law firm and has been in practice with the firm of Coates and Hat-

Judge Brennan announced that he will engage in the general practice, but will specialize in personal injury and property damage cases, estate and probate proceedings and corporation law.
